I thought I was hearing things when after the game,Deion said that if there is a player on this team that is JUST as important as Brady it would be Welker and losing him to injury would be just as bad as losing Brady

I thought that statement was a bit exaggerating at the very least.

Sure Welker is our guy who has been crucial in tons of 3rd down plays and has been the reason why we won several games that could hve been losses like the Dallas game but losing him is as big as losing Brady?

I think if Welker was injured now,I think we could have put Troy in or have Faulk help out with the missing Wes but Brady missing to replace him with Cassell? - Thats like replacing Caviar with Tuna Fish at a banquet.

He says that because Welker reminds him of himself. Not a bad thing but the statement is cleary overexaggerated.

Moss and Welker depend on each other imo. Moss draws the double coverage all the time leaving Welker open. Without Welker, teams can do even more to stop Moss . Im convinced if Welker got hurt that Gaffney/Stallworth/Brown/Jackson would step up

Deon's statement was a stretch....

An exaggeration, yes, but I agree with the general sentiment of the statement. Welker is extremely important to this team. He has great hands and obviously is extremely quick and agile. He's a force in the open field and his 102(?) catches illustrate just how good and how important he is. I think Stallworth could step into that role if need be, but I don't think he'd be as good. I'll say this - I don't think we'd be 16-0 without Welker.

112 catches.

All Season long Deion has been saying that Welker is the most important after Brady. He acknowledges that Moss gets big plays, but he says its Welker that moves the chains. Without that you are 3 and out and Moss has no chance for a big play. He says he is a younger, faster Troy Brown.

Deion was on defense BTW, not a WR on offense.

sorry but I agree with Primetime, begrudgingly...

Ya'll know this however, I started a thread about this earlier this year. I understand and appreciate Moss, when he decides to go up and get the ball, with those hands, well, we all see the record setting result.

Moss gives you big plays, Welker gives you short quickness and precise route running, which I think #12 truly appreciates.

All of you that say Moss is more valuable I appreciate and understand why this is said.

There is however something about Welker in this offense that makes him extremely valuable. He is the new Brown and to some degree Faulk.

I hope WW stays around for a long time...I mean really, what a friggin time to be a NE fan...

It's a strong exaggeration.

Welker vs. Moss is a closer call, but I still think I'd prefer Moss/Gaffney/Brown/Stallworth to Stallworth/Gaffney/Welker/Jackson.

We could live without WW (who I love). We wouldn't be as good, or potent, but we could do it. We COULD NOT live without Brady. No way, no how. He is the straw that stirs this drink.

That's all there is to it.
