I know the guy is not a Patriots fan, but he almost blew his load last night gushing over the Giants. It was truly a shameful display of Patriots hate. I never had much of a problem with him until this season.

It would be icing on the cake if it was revealed that he and Bob Costas were lovers.

Personally didn't think he was that bad. Other than the Wilfork incident I thought he was ok

But you don't think that gets balanced out, when they flash back to his statement that this is the best team he's ever seen??

I didn't notice it at all. Can you quote some specifics?

Exactly.....heard him saying that in the pregame.....Just don't understand why the guy can't say something like that and then want another team to upset them so obviously as he did last night.

I thought he should have been gushing over the Giants. They were playing hard, hitting hard, in what should have been a meaningless game for them. I can't give the Giants enough credit for last night. They made it a great game, and a very memorable one for the Patriots.

the only part that pissed me off was the part where eli's play was so "AMAZING", and that eli was made out to be the second coming of ************

so hes finally playing a good game....owww

I felt the same way...Collinsworth is a tool.

I gotta agree...... Much as I think CC is a turd, as a color guy, he did a decent job last night. Then again, I think I was semi-expecting a game called like the Ravens game, where the MNF guys were practically blowing Shula in the booth and openly rooting for us to lose. I did not get that sense last night. He gave props to the Giants (who deserved it) and he gushed oven the Pats quite a bit too.

Not really, it was just his uncontained giddiness when we were down by 12. And to reiterate what I said before, I never disliked Collinsworth, although he can be a tad irritating at times but last night I was openly asking "what the hell is wrong with Collinsworth?" several times during the game. You would have thought that he had played for the Giants and was cheering on his boys the way he went on about them last night.

I agree Collinsworth is one of my favorite analysts on tv.
Theres not many to choose from.
I'd have to say Chris Berman, Rich Eisen, Deon Sanders, Adam Schefter, Collinsworth in that order.

I couldn't hear Colinsworth, because I was cringing every time Bryant Gumbel flapped his gums and I had to restrain from throwing my beverage at the TV. I'd agree that Colinsworth sucks, but sitting next to Gumbel makes anyone look good!

Yeah, that was truly shameless....particularly when Shula started raving about how much he loved crabcakes.......LOL.

Gumbel......I haven't heard him call a game in years, but they dust him off for one of the biggest games in modern football history. Pretty strange.

Would be if he hadn't been calling games for the NFLN for two seasons now...

I really don't know what some of you want. Fans here rip on this team unmercifully and then get all indignant when broadcast teams who are supposed to be reasonably unbiased try to be objective and balanced in their assessment of a game and the teams playing in it rather than ballwashing one at the expense of the other. It's human nature to root for the underdog unless you have a vested interest in their opponent. And these guys are playing to a national audience, not psychotic Pat's fans - haf of whom would be unhappy with whatever they did.

Have to agree. That was one helluva Giants team playing last night!

It's not a big deal to me and I could care l could care less about announcer's personal opinions, but IMO, Bryant Gumbel is a horrible football analyst. He belongs on "Dancing With the Stars" or something else to that effect.

neither did i. he was down the middle when it came to the officiating and after reading some reactions from giants fans/ pats haters he was fine

I thought he was fairly balanced. When the Giants were pounding the Pats, he was predictably gushing over them. When the Patriots were coming back in the 4th, he was openly commenting on how impressed he was.

It was the best game of the year by far, and both teams had their moments. Collingsworth was praising both teams, deservedly so. There's nothing wrong with giving credit where credit is due.

I don't even have a problem with his criticism of Wilfork. Poking his fingers through the other guy's mask was intentional and malacious. Wilfork should have been penalized for that.

I think in general we get irritated with Collingsworth because he comes off as a bit smarmy. If you take away his personality (which isn't easy, granted) and listen to the content of his words, I think he's decent enough at his job.

I didn't think he was that bad last night. Gumble on the other hand was horrendous as usual. He makes commentators from dog shows sound more exciting.
