"We were the first ones to climb Mount Everest," Yepremian said late Saturday. "If New England comes and does it, then they can be the second ones. But you usually don't remember No. 2. I remember Sir Edmund Hillary was the first one to climb Mount Everest. I don't remember who did it the second time. Do you?"

What a loser.

People won't remember this? Right. It may be the second undefeated season but it's the first 16-0 ever. So shut it.

Also, in the case of racing's Triple Crown, people remember many more than the first one to do it, even though it's rare. I bet most people can't even offhandedly remember the first Triple Crown winner.

What is wrong with these old goats??

Well I have news for him, there is a whole world of people out here who were not around for the dolphins season. HEck I would have never known other then the media coverage.

And look at the worldwide media coverage on the patriots, was the hype this big in 72? ( I don't know-so I am asking)

They truly sound bitter.

But who cares...16-0 baby :)

For some of these guys, '72 was/is the highlight of their lives.

If the Pats go 19-0, they will hear, "what do you think of what the '07 Pats?" forever. I can understand why they are a bit grumpy when asked about the Pats, but when issuing public statements they can show a little more grace and acknowledgment of a truly special achievement.

the more they talk the more they embarrass themselves, i feel embarassed for them readin it...

Maybe the '72 Phins don't realize that, even if the Pats go 19-0, the NFL isn't going to take their perfect season from them.

I swear, they act like the NFL is a Highlander movie, and there can be only one.

It's like they are incapable of it, which is odd, considering "class" is all these talking head morons go on and on about. I mean the NFL has the classiest people in the sporting world, didn't ya know?

yeah...heh...that's rich...coming from a midget dork whose only claim to fame is that idiotic fumbled pass attempt in the Super Bowl that led to a Washington TD. If they opened his pinhead the only thing they'd find is a few ounces of rotten Feta cheese

Wow. The guy who gift-wrapped the Redskins a chance to get back into the game in the 72 super bowl is not impressed.

Yah. Ya know, I'm not impressed by idiot kickers of any era.

Go back to soccer b****.

PFnV

Redskins. But right on.

I bet he had to Google who the first to climb Everest was. I would be willing to bet very few people knew that before he said it.

Jeez, what is it with these guys? What our team did last night takes nothing away from what the Dolphins did in 72. It really doesn't. Why can't they see that? They are still a special part of NFL history and they always will be. Now it's our turn.

Hillary right?

That's right Garo. And the Dolphins (17-0 vs. 19-0) will clearly be #2 ;)

Well, Everest is the tallest mountain, yeah?

So who was the first guy who climbed K-2? That's what the 72 Dolphins will be. The first ones to the top of a smaller mountain.

Learn it, live it, love it, guys.

:rocker:

garo yepremian ? the only thing he's remembered for is the stupidest play in nfl history.

Just read this in the Boston Globe..

Guard Bob Kuechenberg wasn't as willing to spread the praise.

"They've done a heck of a job thus far but now the exhibition season is over and the real season begins," he said.

"Obviously, if they can win their first playoff game, beat an even more dangerous Colts team, and then Brett Favre or the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl, I will be the first to take my hat off to them. If they can pull it off, they will have earned it.

"But my heart is dead set against it. The '72 team is uniquely immortal in American sports and I don't want us to lose that special place."

Kuech is 100% accurate in his assesment of what the Pats need to do to truly join them as "immortal".

It's irrational posessiveness. Kuech is a sucessful businessman. It's not like his life took a bad turn.

I never, ever think of ANY Dolphins team as "uniquely immortal" no matter what their record is.
