So here we are, a regular season game in which NOTHING but records are on the line. If the Pats lose or if the Giants lose, it means nothing to the rest of the season. The final standings are set for these teams, a win or loss changes nothing. This game is about stats. 16-0 is remarkable for a regular season record but does anyone care a bout 16-0 if they lose in any of the 3 games they may get to play in within the next month?

By half time, all the 'prime time' players may be on the bench anyway. You think everyone plays '60 minutes' just because of the 16-0 record?

As for personal stats, unless it is a blowout, you think they force the issue to get Brady or Moss the records at the expense of their health and/or their future in the playoffs?

This hype seems out of control for a "meaningless" regular season game. I want the Pats to win and win big. I want 4 Moss touchdowns and 7 Brady TD passes and no INTs. But I'll take a 23-10 win in which neither player sets their record and the only TDs come from DEF and special teams as long as everyone is healthy when it is over. I'm not saying Cassel should come in during the 2nd series or anything . I am fine with Brady playing until the 4th quarter, I just don't want to see them press and try to make something happen rather than let the game take its course.

I think this could be the most overhyped NFL game in history. Seriously!!

not overhyped. superbowls are won every year. this is done every thirty. this is a super bowl to me.

My feeling is that a "perfect season" is impossible without winning the Super Bowl. Which makes this game no more meaningful than any other regular season game.

Well said. I couldn't agree more. The next game is always more important then the previous one, however there won't be this much hype for the Pats in two weeks because it is no longer the 'regular season'.

I feel the way you do on this......I think this is one of the most meaningful games in the history of the NFL....because no other team has done it....and quite honestly.....may not ever happen again......now if you excuse me....I am going to throw up from all these damned butterflies.......beer!!!!! where is my beer!!!!

Most of the world disagrees with you. While everyone agrees that 16-0 by itself isn't as significant as 19-0, most people see 16-0 as a huge accomplishment.

I agree except that I think a big reason it hasn't been done is everyone (including the players) "knew" it was impossible, so they didn't fight hard to do it. The Patriots have shown it can be done and I wouldn't be surprised to see someone do it again.

Look at it this way....what other game is there to hype this weekend. Titans/Indy? Washington/Dallas? Cleveland/SF? If they can make some money by riding the Pats then you can bet your ass they will ride it for all it's worth, when you figure the Pats have had some of the highest rated games not only for the year but for the past 20 years.

It may not be important to you. But it sure is to me. We have already won 3 SB's, but this to me is just as important. There are many records on the line tonight. If we even get half of them, well, it sure makes my day.

Unimportant. I think you are mistaken and in the minority about your feelings.

ABSOLUTLEY!!!!! Like stated in another thread, what game are you gonna "sell" this weekend?? On another note, any one "shaky" with the starting right side o-line not playing tonite??

If NOT for this hype, this game would only be on NFL network, a local ABC affiliate in Boston, and a CBS affiliate in New York.

We on PatsFans realized this problem way back in August. We were worried about this up until this week. WOOHOO!

Over-hyped? Thirty-Five years ago, the NFL had its one and only undefeated season. I don't blame them for hyping this, and as a Pats fan, this is fun; although, I'm skipping much of the pre-game broadcast.

Imagine how the fans of other teams are taking this . . . .

If this were a team other than the Pats, I'd be curious and watch the game, but I'd be reluctant to share in the hype and would shun any media activities prior to game time.

How would you react???

It's worth every bit of the hype. There has NEVER been a game in the history of the NFL with so much to accomplish...tons of records...with zero impact on their playoff status. This hype is great for football, and it is great for the Patriots, and I'm very glad and proud I am a part of the Patriot nation this week and not a member of the Dolphin nation. :D

I'm getting very psyched..an hour and forty five minutes until game time.

GO PATRIOTS!!!!

I am as obsessed witht he Pats as the next guy, but lets not forget that it is a Saturday night in the middle of a writer's strike...it isn't as though the other stations are pulling supremely compelling television off the air so that the nation can watch the Pats go 16-0 on three major network television stations. I'm not taking away from this game because stations would run reruns or movies if they didn't realize that there was no point because everyone will be watching this game, but if this were a Sunday or a Monday night game that wasn;t during a writer's strike, I don't think that it would be quite as hyped.

Did you see the kind of numbers the Patriots-Steelers game pulled? It was like the largest viewing audience in cable history.

People will be watching this game, because it is interesting, fun, and potentially the cap to the greatest regular season in NFL history.

The Patriots are definitely the #1 sports story of the year.

I’m so sick of people whining about the game getting too much hype...

If you don’t want to hear it, than shut the **** off! Seriously...

This is exciting! We are going for freaking 16-0!!! This IS A BIG DEAL!!! IT IS NOT A "MEANINGLESS GAME". It's history. Enjoy it. We may never see it again.

It may not be important to you. But it sure is to me. We have already won 3 SB's, but this to me is just as important. There are many records on the line tonight. If we even get half of them, well, it sure makes my day.

I think you missed the point. I did not say it was unimportant to me. I am simply asking if anyone feels that the level of hype is equal to what is really at stake. Its an incredible acheivement but without a Super Bowl win, it is merely a footnote and the Pats become the Greatest 'Also Ran' in NFL history. 16-0 is fantastic, 19-0 is legendary. The personal records are meant to be broken. So in my opinion the hype is mis-placed, it is too early. Not saying there should be NO hype, of course there should be some but after 72hours of 'Path to Perfection' and the same stories over and over and a complete disregard and lack of respect for the Giants heading into the game, it become too much...

NOW, with THAT said... HOLY S#!& that game was exciting! And amazingly enough... it surpassed the hype!! The Giants have nothing to be ashamed about, the Pats are phenominal! I can't wait for two weeks from now!
