STINKO SPEAKS OUT ON SIRIUS

After keeping his mouth shut for most of the past couple of months, Bengals receiver Chad Johnson a/k/a Ocho Cinco a/k/a Ocho Stinko was interviewed Friday on Sirius NFL Radio by Adam Schein and Ross Tucker.

Though we didn't hear the whole thing (we're trying to get audio clips or a transcript), Johnson was talking openly about not being with the team in 2008.

In fact, its sounded as if he's resigned to the fact that he won't be back. At times, we got the impression that he wants to go to a new team.

moss/johnson/stallworth/welker/and who cares! viagra sales will be non existant in new england.

I think he is a little to vocal for the Pats, He appears to be more of a me guy than a we guy, but sometimes things can change.

LOL

I can't see the Pats spending more cap space on another WR. We don't need any more skill at that position at this time. Even if the injury bug hits, we've still got Jabar and Troy who can step in and perform awesomely.

Not to mention that Chad Jackson guy who continues to lurk on the roster...

Chad and BB have mutual respect - but BB wouldn't tolerate for a second the behavior Chad exhibited in Cincy.

Although its not the instant SB contender I'd expect Chad wants, I would expect Parcells to make some serious overtures towards him - and I suspect the two of them would get along well. Johnson likes to talk but he's no T.O.

If Parcells can find himself a legitimate QB and adds a WR of Johnson's caliber, the Dolphins will get some respect pretty quickly.

Depending on the Bengals asking price it's not that unrealistic. Johnson's upcoming salaries are slightly less than Stallworth's option. If the Bengals take a reasonable deal - and if Belichick likes Johnson more than Stallworth - it actually saves cap money.

Moss, Johnson, Welker is a nice group, although I like Stallworth too.

Here's what Johnson has coming :

2008: $3 million (+ $250,000 workout bonus)
2009: $4.5 million )+ $250,000 workout bonus)
2010: $5 million (+ $250,000 workout bonus)
2011: $6 million (club option)
2012: Free Agent

I heard the interview...Chad just kept saying over and over that he wanted to win. It wasn't about money, it was about winning. They floated that he should be in New England but Chad said he didn't see himself getting traded. They also mentioned San Diego as a possibility.

I have no idea why we keep on wanting to tear up Stallworth's contract. Cinci should require at least a 1st and a 2nd to lock up a probowler for four years under a friendly contract.

Would I do it if Moss doen't want to come back? Yeah, I suppose so.

I'm just saying we could, not that we should. If it would take a #1 to get Johnson then I wouldn't do it - I like Stallworth a lot. I don't think it would take nearly as much as you, though. Johnson will be 30 in January and WR tend to start slowing down in their early 30s (notable exceptions exist, of course).

I am not one of them.. stallworth below market value this week so if he has singned a regular 29 million contract spread over 5 yrs his numbers would have been friendlier. Now most fans would like to punish him for playing this year .

Also , at 30 WR slow down and moss is 32 next season...wes and stallworth are 26 and if signed for 5 yrs will be in their prime for brady`s carreer.

I do not think chad will come here . when they were 4-7 he was doing his post TD celebration .

Isn't that what we all said about Moss?

:D

Am I the only one who thought Johnson looked as if he's lost a step this season? Now, it may be that he was just down about being on that crappy team, á la Moss last year, but it could also have been the beginning of the end. I would be a bit cautious about giving up too much for a 30 year old receiver coming of a down season.

For me Chad will never make it as a Pat.....Yes he is very talented and has big play ability...my problem with Chad is that unlike Moss who only wants to win Chad loves the CAMERA more then he loves to win.

The Pats criteria is God, Family Football, Chad's criteria is Chad, Chad and then Chad.

Chad is a lot more like Owens the Moss, and we have seen the old Owens begin to come to light, even thou the Boy's are winning the NFC, more often in recent weeks, like when he has not gotten the ball as much as HE thinks HE should have and when Romo's girlfriend became an item.

IMHO Chad is incapable of loving football and winning more then HE LOVES CHAD and Especially Chad on Camera.

God?
I thought we had some Atheists on the team?

Agreed. Just say no to nauseating, self-promoting Chad.

I heard the interview live and in full, it was definitely not something ultra serious and Chad Johnson referenced a few times being unable to see himself without wearing stripes. He even went so far as to say when he got banged up in game a few weeks back, he saw stripes then. He jokes around a lot with Adam Scheine, he's been doing his show for 3 years.

Re: Stallworth -

It's not that anybody is eager to tear up Donte's contract. It's that half the money comes through between the end of this season and the end of next season. In other words, the cheap years are the "out years," but next year is the "okay we're sold!" year.

PFnV

Wow Johnson's salary is actually not bad at all. Letting Stallworth go and trading for Johnson wouldn't be a bad move.

the whole BB/Chad Johnson thing is weird.

He doesn't seem like the kind of person that BB would have a "mutual respect" with.

I just don't really get it but whatever.

My guess is that he's been trying to recruit Ocho for a while.

Bingo. You nailed it. No way should the Pats take a chance on Chad. It's all about Chad when Chad's in town, not to mention his on field antics when Palmer doesn't nail him on the numbers. His body language is all about "you guys are screwing up and that's why we're losing"

Take a big fat pass on this guy.
