And there have been several better in the past. Only dolphin homers think that the 1972 dolphins would have done any better against the 1985 bears than we did. They were the best single season team.
No comparison at all. The '72 phins weren't even that great of a team, they just happened to string together 17 wins, many of them being close calls.
You sound like anti_Patriots from 2001.
Wake the eff up will you? How can you say they weren't a great team when they had the mental fortitude to survive 17 straight in the NFL? Did you watch that team? They had a devastating running game, and they accomplished that feat with a backup QB.
Give up the stupid comparisons, and give up the stupid criticisms of a team that won 17 straight. Just accept it. Embrace it. It's the history of the game, and it exists for all of us to admire. Don't be so freaking small that you can't give credit to them for what they accomplished.
Every time you deny their greatness you sow the seeds of some Bears fans or Jaguars fans doing that to our guys twenty years from now.

I do, for one.Give up the stupid comparisons, and give up the stupid criticisms of a team that won 17 straight. Just accept it. Embrace it. It's the history of the game, and it exists for all of us to admire. Don't be so freaking small that you can't give credit to them for what they accomplished.
The Dolphins also won most of the games without even their #1 QB playing. Bob Griese got hurt and Earl Morrall stepped in early in the season, playing all the games until the playoffs, I believe. I have to wonder how good the other teams were that year to lose to a team led by a QB that even Shula called "the old man".I'll try myself not to discount what the Fins of 72 did, but they didn't face a top seed schedule that year. They only played one or two above .500 teams. However, they did have to maintain their composure throughout, which is why I'm so concerned about the Playoffs now. There is no escape hatch, no free tickets, and no empty promises. If they go 16-0, they had best be ready to lay the wood to every opponent, or the 16-0 means nothing.
I do, for one.
Congrats to your team for winning an entire season with the easiest schedule in the hostory of the NFL, with a combined winning percentage of about .350 and without playing a single playoff team.
I do, for one.
Congrats to your team .
If they were so great, how'd they do in '73?
