FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon practice inside the Dana-Farber Fieldhouse today. The team is in shoulder pads and helmets as the pace has picked up from Wednesday’s lighter walkthrough practice.

Running back Kyle Eckel, offensive tackle Nick Kaczur, and tight end Kyle Brady were the lone players not present for the media access portion of practice, which included stretching, a special teams drill, and one set of positional warmup drills.

Quarterback Matt Gutierrez, safety Ray Ventrone, and practice squad player Antwain Spann wore black jerseys, signifying they were the practice players of the week.

He said that he was happy with the progress of his rehab today in the locker room, FWIW. I think that he'll be ready.

He looked pretty seriously hurt against Miami.

Hopefully he comes back soon because every time I watch a replay of a game I realize just how many plays Eckel makes on special teams.

I wonder if Gutt's appearance in this week's game was a reward for having helped prep the team for Miami - "being" Cleo Lemon or something?

Matt's supposed to be Eli this week.

It'll take a completion percentage around 50 and a few INTs per day in practice for him to emulate Eli... and get a 2nd consecutive practice player of the week jersey.

Wow, tough gig. I think I could pretend to be Eli. Just toss it up in the general direction of WR and PRAY.

Three OL are hurt, leaving 6 healthy. And we have packages where we use 6 OL right now, due to the shortages of TEs.

Perhaps they're activating an extra OL.

The one that concerns me the most is Kaczur. If Giants come ready to play
and bring the heat then Kaczur's sub and Tom maybe in for a long
day. Assuming Kaczur is not playing it may mean O'Callaghan or Britt will have
to contend with Strahan. I hope O'Callaghan has improved over the year and
can do a decent job. I hope Light can handle Osi by himself because
OC may need help with Strahan
