If tom brady leads the patriots to an undefeated regular season(break manning single season touchdown record and help Randy Moss break the most touchdown record for a WR) and also win the superbowl. Will those things be used to cement Brady as the best QB ever and better than peyton manning.

Only in New England.

Plus, as FoxSports reminds us, he's no Bert Jones.

Unfortunately, no. Peyton the flasher will remain a media darling.

Maybe when Brady catches him on some of the career stats, that will help put an end to the arguement, but it's still subjective.

Manning is top 10 or so in almost every career NFL stat and has 6 at least top level years, maybe 8, if he stays away from injuries.

Brady keeps playing like he is, though he'll be right there, too.

There's certainly a great argument in Brady's favor though, if he does it this year.

Peyton all day everday! Brady, to me, is just a pretty boy who plays under Bill.

Looks like we need some more "Troll Away" spray! Damn bugs!

Troll? Not really, I have better things to do than fool around for amusement. Peyton>Brady and you and I know it. Brady is only good because he plays under Bill, want to disagree?

The debate is over and has been for a while. Manning, even in the playoffs last year, was weak. He still does not bring it consistently to the 'big' games.

Brady has proven to do more with less and more with more!

Manning has fallen out as media darling. Sure he is great in his own right, but now it is universally known that Brady is 1A and Manning is 1B.

Manning = great passer, not great in the clutch, throws teammates under the bus, 1 championship, most TD etc...
Brady = great QB, great in the clutch, great leader, 3 Championships, 21 game winning streak and ...counting...

Since this is the only argument you have and it is ****ty, I declare you stupid. Tell me, how exactly does Matt Cassel do when he comes in? This "Brady is a system player" crap is old. He's thrown 48 friggin TD passes. That is NOT a system player. Go talk to Trent DIlfer.

..and this, written after his first five seasons:

But it’s interesting to note that Brady compares favorably in numerous statistical categories to the greatest quarterbacks who ever played the game.
After five years in the league, compared with this group, Brady is:
• No. 1 in INTs per attempt (1:38.8)
• No. 2 in TD/INT ratio (1.9:1)
• No. 3 in passing efficiency (87.5)
• No. 4 in completions (1,243)
• No. 5 in completion percentage (61.6)
• No. 5 (t - Namath) in TD passes (97)
• No. 6 in passing yards (13,925)
• No. 7 in TDs per attempt (1:20.80)

Of course, Brady is also:
• No. 1 in championship victories (three)
• No. 1 in postseason appearances (nine)
• No. 1 in postseason victories (nine)
• No. 1 in playoff record (9-0)
• No. 1 in Super Bowl MVP awards (two)

If Brady is a "system quarterback," then that must be some kind of system.

I don't know, it's gonna be hard for Tommy to match Manning. Manning is clearly superior.

We are talking about the ability to teabag trainers, right?

That debate will never end. Only in New England area. It doesn't matter how many stats and how many SB rings we throw at Dolts fans. Their boy is on tv everyday so in their mind, he is the greatest.

January 20th. We'll know then.

I agree with this point most of all. I read the OP's question to be about how generally most fans and analysts across the country would view Brady v. Manning after this year plays out. Almost no matter what happens from here on out in the 2nd half of their careers, NE fans will think Brady is the best ever and Indy fans will think Manning is the best.

Most of the debates on this topic of greatest all time QBs inevitably weight championships won a lot.

If Pats win the AFCCG, and go onto win the SB, that is 4-1 for Brady, and probably an insurmountable lead given the Pats are going to be good for a while and these QBs probably have at most 6-7 years left each.

On the other hand, the flip side is that if the Colts are able to upset the Pats on Jan 20th, and win the SB, that would make it 3-2, and the debate would rage on, and be settled over the next 5 years.

Just a couple points:
1. Yes, I whole-heartedly, unequivocally, and strongly disagree!
2. If you have better things to do, but still hang around another team's message board, then you really need to get a life!
3. What's your point about playing under BB? Sooo, the greatest QB of all time plays for the greatest coach of all time! Thanks for the compliment!
4. You are a troll.

Happy Holidays!

Peyton is fortunate to have 3 years head-start on Brady or this wouldn't even be worth a debate. Track these guys in their first 7 seasons, it's not even close. Brady>>>>>>>Manning

I agree. You are 100% correct. BB's system always produces record-setting QBs. His 11-5 1994 Cleveland team was led by arguably the greatest single-season QB effort in league history (well, behind each and every one of Peyton's 9 seasons) as Vinny Testaverde shocked the football world, throwing for an unprecedented 16 TD passes against only 18 interceptions! Vinny completed an astounding 55.1% of his passes that year, for an earth shattering 2575 yards! Testaverde produced an astronomical 70.7 rating to cap off his dream season.

Since the QB of BB's best non-Pats team set the world on fire with his numbers, your point should be accepted as fact. The numbers don't lie. SYSTEM QB!

This is easy. In the media's eyes, whoever wins the most recent matchup is the better quarterback. With no reliable objective method to determine who is better, this method is as good as any.

Yeah, you have pinheads like our new troll who simply don't have a clue, but anybody with basic intelligence realizes that Brady did more with less to the tune of 3 rings and is able to do more with more in the form of this year.

Manning won a championship with only one half of decent football against the Pats. The Colts won that game for a variety of reasons which didn't all have much to do with him. So far, Manning has been a pathetic joke in the playoffs overall.

The stats that will seperate Brady from Manning will always be wins and big games.

The stats Manning accumulates in his sheltered dome in the regular season are no big deal when he lays so many eggs in the playoffs.
