Having memories of Bryant Gumbel calling this game would be like bringing a paid escort to your brothers wedding. No matter how much time passes, that is a black eye on the occasion forever.

I am hoping somebody poisons his lunch and he comes down with a temporary stomach flu like they do when rigging Tennis matches, this may be our only hope boys.

he really sucks.....chris collinworths will be by his side?????

Hahaha.

To be honest, I really don't feel the hate everyone else does towards the guy.

Is he bad? Yes. Is he so bad I feel inclined to mute the television? No. The only time that has ever happened was during that horridly commentated Pats/Ravens MNF game, when the booth became an absolute circus.

Sure he’s bad, but I’m not holding my ears screaming ‘LALALA’ when he comes on as just about everyone else is.

Bryant Gumbel is the Patriots biggest challenge going into week 17.

"It would appear to be enough for a first down!!!" ICK!

I'm likely going to do my darnedest to sync up G&G with my finished recording...

I could cue the audio of a Will & Grace episode to the Patriots game and still get better calls than Bryant Gumbel.

I don't think he's that bad. I much prefer him and Collinsworth over the ESPN clowns. It's just a shame that Gumbel sounds like Kermit the Frog.

I do...

I actually prefer ESPN and Joe Theisman over Bryant Gumbel.

I would take a crew of Dennis Miller, Tony K, Joe Theisman and a sideline broadcast by John Madden over Bryant Gumbel.

I actually hate watching this man talk and perfrom on TV.

I think I dislike him more than you, but I think you get to the worst thing about him, apart from everything else. His VOICE sucks. It's impossible for him to convey excitement with that little simpy voice of his.

You know if they are doing a simaulcast, they should use the stations' brodcast team

Simms and Nantz

and Madden and Michales..

This is a smart guy..

I almost nutted in shorts boys when I heard this game would hit other stations..

What amazes me is his brother is actually pretty good. I wish we could get some kind of Gumbel substitution on this one.

Braynt DUMBel will definitely ruin the moment... plan on him saying "KYLE Brady back to pass" about 5 or 6 times.

At least he stopped saying, "And they turn the ball over on downs" every time a team punted. He still says "appears to have a first down" even if the runner makes it by ten yards, and every time a WR misses a ball or it is defensed or even if it bounces off his facemask, he still says, "in and out of his hands."

But yeah, the real problem is that he sounds a cross between like PeeWee Herman and Ed Grimley. (I must say.)

It will be good for the whole country to see how bad he is and hopefully the NFL will be unable to ignore his shortcomings and replace him next year.

He said that all throughout last year after a failed third down conversion, I have not liked him ever since his first game. His brother has a much better voice for play-by-play but even he is no top of his craft PBP man.

Gumbel has not had a play-by-play role in over 25 years, and I even read one source that said this is his first permanent play-by-play role ever. Whatever the case may be, I can certainly see why his success is from his little HBO show and not calling games..

Gumbel is boring. I sounds like he would rather be some where else than calling the game. Hopefully NFLN gets smart and get some one good top call the game.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I can almost hear it now:

"And a plethora of Defensive Backs converge on Moss as he advances toward the End Zone!!"

That's EPIC.

I actually like his brother Greg quite a bit. I preferred him and Phil Simms far more then Jim Nantz/Phil Simms .
