2008 schedule
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff
December 26, 2007 09:31 AM

With the Pittsburgh Steelers clinching the AFC North title in Week 16, that means the final piece fell into place for the 2008 New England Patriots schedule.

As part of the NFL's pre-determined scheduling formula, the Patriots already knew 11 of their 13 opponents next year. They also knew that they would play the AFC North champion at home, and the AFC South champion on the road.

So now that the Steelers have clinched the North, the final spot is filled on the 2008 schedule:

Home games
Bills
Broncos
Cardinals
Chiefs
Dolphins
Jets
Rams
Steelers

Road games
Bills
Chargers
Colts
Dolphins
49ers
Jets
Raiders
Seahawks

I hope we get even with Broncos , still have bad memories from 2 years ago.

Hmmmm..... We are playing AT Indy again. I guess that's only fair, seeing as the Colts had to come to Foxboro two or three years in a row.

Now that I think about it, aren't the Colts moving into their new stadium next year? I can see it now - Patriots at Colts on Thursday night to open the season...

the season opener will be a Thursday night game at Foxboro

Hell no. They want to save the Pats and Colts for the middle of the season for big ratings. There is a reason why we play them every November.

Alright West Coasters, we finally get numerous chances to get to a game without crossing the country.

We will have organized tailgates and get togethers for the Seattle, Oakland, San Fran and San Diego games and will discuss ticket purchasing, travel options, recommendations, etc. in the PatsTG Yahoo Group so if you are thinking of getting to any of these games you'll definitely want to join this "club".

EXACTLY...the deeper in the season the better for ratings assuming both have decent records

I bet they put Chicago/Indy as the new stadium opener...just guessing.

So you are predicting Colts will win the SB this year?

Absolutely BRUTAL schedule. The team must go all out in 2007 in order to win this year. It would be great if they could sign a big name receiver like Randy Moss and/or Dante Stallworth...

That being said, hopefully airfare from Denver to the west coast will not be too expensive. I haven't been to any of those stadiums and would like to make at least 1 trip in 2008.

Thanks for the link SoCal Bong. I am looking forward to one of those tailgate parties.

Oooppss!!! Nope, I'm most certainly not predicting that! I couldn't stand another long off-season of Peyton Pole Polishing by the National Mediots.

I guess I forgot about the Super Bowl winner hosting the opening game of the following season. How long has that tradition been in effect?

too early to tell who's gonna surprise and be strong, but we have four west coast games which is a killer travel wise. if it's a late game they lose the entire next day flying back due to the time zone changes.

I think it was after the Pats superbowl in '03 in the '04 season. We hosted the Colts. I think that was the last time we played them outside of November in the regular season.

The hardest part will be travelling to the west, especially when some games will be moved to prime time. Too bad games against Rams and Cardinals are at home, bc they play in a dome which should benefit the passing game.

How about the Colt's brutal schedule for 2008?

Home: Jacksonville - Tennessee - Houston - Baltimore - Cincinnati - Chicago - Detroit - New England

Away: Jacksonville - Tennessee - Houston - Green Bay - Pittsburgh - Cleveland - San Diego - Minnesota

Hard to find a tougher road schedule.
