It's my understanding that teams are reseeded following the wild card round based purely on won loss record. IOW, if #5 seed Jacksonville finishes the season at 12-4, they would go to Indy in the divisional playoffs provided they win their wild card game.
This seems to contradict Peter King's statement in his MMQB:

San Diego 33, Denver 30. Here's what San Diego faces: They win out, and they're the third seed. Significant, because the Chargers would face a lesser team than Jacksonville (Cleveland or Tennessee) in the wild-card round, then have a divisional game at Indy instead of New England. Whereas the fourth seed, Pittsburgh, has Jacksonville coming to town (and the Jags have a three-game winning streak over the Steelers), with the winner traveling to New England the following week. I'm going all out to win this one if I'm the Chargers.
