For me, it is Nick Buonticounti. For some reason the guy just rubs me the wrong way. I realize he played for the Pats. Never cared for him on HBO's "Inside the NFL", especially when the last undefeated team in any season would lose. I will never forget in 1983, when Dallas was 7-0, and lost to San Diego, I believe. Unable to hold his jubilant glee, and maintain his "professionalism", he threw up his hands in the air, and made a remark something to the extent "I love it, and the Miami perfect season is saved, Thank Goodness". I don't know, maybe there are worse ones than him, I guess.

Why do we need to hate the '72 Dolphin team .. because they were good?

Get a life.

I said which "ONE" of the players, I didn't say the whole team. In case you missed it as of late, a number of them have degraded this Patriots team achievements. And if they go 19-0, will be looking for reasons to diminish their achievements. Last time I checked this is a sports (Patriots) message board, and we talk about related things here, which this is. I will file your sentiment "under advisement".

I'm too young to remember them, so Mercury Morris takes my cake.

I think they're all a bunch of pathetic old geezers. I can't wait to watch them piss their depends when the Pats steal their precious record.

Talk about a bunch of myopic self-sycophants. Please Pats, please go 19-0 and shatter their only ounce of significance in their pathetic lives !!!!

Buonticounti is a Patriot. Show some respect and honor your team's history.

Check again, he spent the majority of his career in Miami.

Once a Patriot, always a Patriot. ;)

To answer the thread question, Shula, who ran it up to the tune of 52 - 0 against the (hate to say it) hapless Patriots in 1972. It's be nice to exceed that spread on Sunday.

Seven glorious seasons with the Patriots. Don't you forget them.

You are correct. For some reason, I thought his time with the Pats was less than that. But, hell, his time with the Pats, most of which was before I was even born. I only remember him from the end of his career in Miami.

I wasn't even born in '72 so I can't say I know them....but Mercury Morris would be the choice followed close by senile Shula.

To be honest Mercury Morris has just made this season more enjoyable.

Shula for the asterisk comments. Mercury is more so being silly with it (See: Rapping), Shula is genuinely angry.

he played for the pats but once he went to miami he tried to distance himself from the pats. he was proud to be a dolphin and would bad mouth the pats. for that diss he will always be a putz dolphin and he gets my vote.

Nick Bouniconti was one of the reasons I became a Pats fan. When there just were not many of us back in the '60s.

Undersized, he played his heart out, and was a many time AFL ALL-star. It was his heady leadership, blitzing ability from the MLB position, that made his as good as any LB in pro football. He continued that way until Butkus came in half way through his career. And Tedy Bruschi at his best resembes his play, and Team spirit, except Nick was much better.

When Cleve Rush was hired as a Coach, replacing Mike Holovak, he traded Nick to Miami for a bundle of players, none of whom were worth a bucket of warm spit.

It was like trading Brian Urlacher for Hank Poteat, Justin Rodgers, Cedric Cobb and player to be named later. Don Shula new to the Phish, stole the Pat's doofus blind. Nick provided the veteran leadership that solidified the Dolphins expansion Defense. There were others who got the notriety, but the original 'Killer B" was Nick.

Wthout him the Phish never would have gone 17-0

He became a lawyer while with the Pats studying at Suffolk U and after his son got hurt he has done great chritable work in founding and funding the research that is conquering paralysis.

He has gotten elected to the Hall of Fame and is one of three ex-Pats to do so.

That kid up in Buffalo is walking today thanks to Nick Bouniconti.

Thank You and now ... GO AWAY! :rocker:

Jim Del Gaizo. With the Dolphins leading 38-0, he came off the bench and Shula had him throw two TD passes in the 4th quarter.

P S Love to Mark Henderson for plowing it up Shula's behind 10 years after St. Don ran it up on the '72 Pats.

Someone tell Mercury Morris that we are razing his neighborhood and building a high rise.

Well, a lot of those things I never heard, until now, and they are great indeed!!!! There are other reasons that I don't like the guy that have nothing to do with that you just said, as I stated above. I applaud him for those things you mentioned, now that I know of it.

I will "go away" if / when I feel like it.....Thank YOU very much

A toss up between the dope dealer and the coach.

I remember Nick Bouniconti very well - he was a star with the Pats way back when. I'll never forget the GM of the Pats and his quote at the time they traded him away to Miami. When he announced the trade, he commented that "Nick doesn't fit into our plans anymore". Doesn't fit into our plans?? Say what? I could not believe it.

Anyway, to keep in line with the title of this thread, it's Mercury Morris. I'm amazed at some of the distorted logic that comes out of his mouth.
