The publicity and public interest surrounding the Pats' pursuit of a perfect season may force the cable companies to arbitration with the NFL regarding accessibility of the NFL Network. Arbitration is something the cable companies have outright rejected to this point. But congressional pressure and public outcry may force a compromise. If that arbitration comes to pass, the end result will likely give the NFL Network broad access across the country. Such a compromise would be the first step in the NFL Network forcing its way into the mainstream, allowing it to double dip via cable rates fees + advertising, opening up a cash cow which would provide a new source of income in the realm of hundreds of millions of dollars to the NFL and all its franchises. It would also be a major step toward establishing a sports network that could rival ESPN, carrying the legitimacy of the NFL brandname.

IOW, the Pats pursuit of a perfect season is not only the ratings cash cow that has been reported and discussed in other threads, but may become the prime mover in the birth of a new sports network, one that changes sports television and makes our NFL competitors millions. I find it ironic that the teams and people in the NFL who have so vilified our team and franchise in the end will owe so much to the labor and efforts of the man they tried to ruin.

If public interest in the Patriots' quest forces an end to this stalemate and brings the NFL Network to the masses, it will be one of the most significant moments in the history of the league.

Wow, beating Miami this Sunday is more important than we thought! :horn:

As interesting as the Giants - Pats game will be to all of us. And fully aware of the significance of going 16-0.

More of the country cared about the Dal-GB game, then will about this one.

More people cared about Dallas-GB because it had the 'Boys, Favre and the top 2 NFC teams. Nobody outside of Pats fans wants to see NE go 16-0. The other games were ratings winners because NE almost lost.

COMPLETELY DISAGREE. If the Patriots go into that game undefeated, it will be a chance to witness HISTORY. People are very interested in "being there WHEN."

People outside of Pats fans might want to see them NOT go 16-0, though, hence the interest in the game.

Respectfully disagree. Outside the Patriotnation they want nothing more then an upset. They will be disapointed but that is the facts.

Patsox, I'm glad that you have built up enough credibility around here with your 6000+ posts to write in CAPS. I strive to be like you bro or sis (whatever you may be). You're an inspiration to us all.

In what grade do they teach the meaning of than and then?

I am not saying there isn't interest, nor that people wouldn't want to watch this game to see if the Eli can do what is big bro could not do. But outside of NE I don't expect to see people be real pissed off over it, they way they were with Dal-GB.

There was even a skit about it.
