How would you feel about BBs decision making if Tom Brady were to get injured in a meaningless game? (meaningless term is based solely on playoff positioning)

I would be perfectly fine with it. They get paid to play the game. You don't let off the gas going into the most important stretch of the season.

I agree but I think its an interesting question as to how the guys think in here about 16-0 vs. Meaningless games and its possible affect on the playoffs should something like that arise.

Personally I think 16-0 is a BIG accomplishment and should definately be a goal since it may never be duplicated again,Play the main guys all 4 quarters I say,Its worth the risk.

If I didn't have three kids to support I would probably hang myself.

It really has nothing to do with going for the record. I don't think it is wise to take 2 weeks off, then have a bye week, and then play in the most important games of the season. The Colt's were in a similar situation. They didn't do too well. Right now the focus should be on playing games and getting better. You can't get better while sitting on the bench.

I understand the injury risks, but it is part of the game. Too much rest never does any team any good. Even baseball teams fall apart with too much time off.

Yeah,I hear Peyton will be starting the next 2 games but Sorgi will be in by the late first half of both.

Peyton is going to play mainly so he can keep his starting QB streak alive is what I have heard.

I feel exactly the same, even with the number of kids I have to support. (Boy, I hope they're not the same kids)

Hm, they could be. Are your kids smart ass, irritating, loud and messy?

(By the way I approve of the old avatar. I really missed it. I miss the old signature too if you could bring yourself to putting that back in)

Why yes they are!!!

I will bring the old sig back. I'm glad someone got it. Thanks.

This would be my answer to the poll question!! Exactly what I was thinking.

I'd be very depressed if any of our starters had season ending injuries in the next few weeks....knock on wood

While I would be upset, it does not have as much to do with being 16-0, but more with being sharp.. the bench is only so deep, you can replace Brady, but after that it gets somewhat thin. Cannot replace the whole O line, whole D line or all the LB's.

Suspect that BB will rotate players in for the last couple of games who do not get a lot of field time, but not to preserve 16-0, but to get them some meaningful field time.

They're not meaningless games. This team is going for a PERFECT season.
I realize American culture is a race towards the bottom and mediocrity is the gold standard these days but I like the fact that they're GOING FOR IT!!
A couple of years ago Tony Dungy started to play if safe with a 13 - 0 record, his team lost 2 out of their last 3 regular season games and lost in the playoffs.
Win or loss CELEBRATE the attempt at a perfect season.
It's a life lesson too. Too many people are afraid of failure and worry about what might happen or what could happen and it holds them back.
Just make it happen by GOING FOR IT!! :rocker:

I would stomp my feet, and may very well sucker punch somebody, in an elevator.

Going for 19-0, it shouldn't be easy. Thats a price you might have to pay. This is a unique opportunity for this team to go 19-0 wire to wire. Not just be great but to go down arguably as the best team ever to win the superbowl. Doesn't mean you have to look ahead, its still one game at a time but its one game you are going to try your very best to win.

You can either shut down and hide your best players to "supposedly" increase your chances to win the superbowl, or grab this opportunity with both hands, hanging on tight, risking everything for a unique place in history.

Thats how it should be, and if someone gets hurt going for it, I'm ok with that.

I haven't heard that, but if it's true it's an indication that Dungy doesn't learn from his mistakes. It may be more a case of Manning having taken something of a physical and mental beating this season that has somewhat drained him. Still, rust has been his enemy throughout his playoff career. If I were the Colts I'd be more concerned about resting Addai because of the increased load he has carried. Unfortunately I think they only have one somewhat viable backup at RB, so that complicates matters - and Addai could rust as well. The interesting thing for them will be if and when Marvin shows up, especially given his history of not showing up come playoff time.

I would react by envisioning a voodo doll of the starter of this thread. I mean, who are we to question the tactics of a 3X SB championship coach and a QB who just this week said again he wants every snap, they pay him to play in games, practices are not where the fun is...

Nail on head. To maintain consistancy and fitness you simply have to play. Injuries are part of sports, just have to deal with them when they occur. Everyone here knows just how big a blow losing Brady would be, but if it happens it happens.

The games that are left are there to be won and I guarantee BB will demand they are won. These games won't be meaningless to the Patriots.

This gets my vote for senseless thread of the year, in just under the wire. Someone please alert me when the next poll is posted asking how we would feel if something else bad theoretically happened to the Patriots. :bricks:

It likely won't be long since 64's forte is the inquiring minds somewhere want to know poll thread.
