As the months have passed and the recent revelations of the New York Jets very questionable video practices come to light, the perception now is that the Patriots video trangressions have been downgraded from double homicide to disturbing the peace.

It is obvious the national media wants this to go away because further examination of this topic (example: lie detector to Mangini & Tannenbaum) etc. would force many outlets to rescind their quite harsh first decision that they want to stick.

National media, read New York centric media.

As much as I wish to see Mangini get his ass handed to him, I really wish this whole spygate bs would just stop. Pats are on remarkable pace for perfect season and it pisses me off that only thing that is talked about is spygate.

With that being said, only reason national media are not pursuing this story is probably because people are just tired of hearing about spygate. Its been what? 3 month?

A first rounder for first punishment, when many other teams were doing equally creative camera work was BS, which is why it is hard to move on. It is total crap. A third or fourth would have been about right to send a message and if anyone did it again - take the first.....

I completely agree. It is hard to move on. A measured response from Roger Godell instead of an unprecedented 1st rounder would have been tolerable. Given the sorry state of the NFL rules, memos, and bylaws, it's even more of a travesty!

But I'm absolutely lovin' this Patriot's team and the performance they've put on so far! Frickin' awesome!

I am still waiting for the NFL's investigation into how Fox got a copy of the Patriots tape from the NFL.

Yea right. Goodell's wife works there, we will never see this ex Jets guy do anything

I think it has to due with the NFL's confusing response to the Jets taping. At the start of Spygate, we heard,"the rule is so clear..." The media had easy lines to quote. If you asked a week before the Jets game if cameras were allowed on the sidelines the same outraged people wouldn't know or would think so.

With the Aiello response, I think the media wants to stay away from the whole issue, because they don't understand it. Is anyone going to do a serious story on what kind of videotaping is done by teams? Nope.

Mangini says they tape all the time. Apparently from areas that aren't enclosed on all sides and that is ok...if they get permission??

Seems Goodell's yarn about the Patriots "calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules..." is hallow if teams can tape freely off the sideline.

I would love to have Costas to interview Goodell again and ask for an clarifiication of the Jets videotaping in relation to "longstanding rules".

But that won't happen either.

Not the media but NFL will keep quiet for this to go way.if you think if the NFL is going to get its image tarnished by some NFL commissioner let me say he will be voted off his job next year.

if the jets are guilty as well, i want them to pay and pay badly.... im sick of jets fans in their high horses accusing us as cheaters...

Apparently Peter King is a little busy planning the Hypocrit's Club Christmas party, otherwise I'm sure he'd be all over this.

Greg Yeastercrotch must have gotten popped with kiddie porn...where's HIS non-stop Blabberama Fest been?

I dont think the Jets did anything wrong, but the precedent was set and as far as I see it they broke the same rule we did. They should get a similar penalty
