Belichick showed the team many clips of various players missing assignments and making errors. He ripped them for 45 minutes - saying they need to improve. Brady said "Coach gave it to us pretty good today," "We've made plenty of mistakes. Especially the last month of football, I don't think it's been our best."

If someone on this board made all those comments, the Kool-aid police would rip them a new one and call them a whiner.

The truth is, we were playing better earlier in year and it is ok to say that and point out areas where we think they could use some improvement. We still love the team and recognize we are still playing as well as anyone but we also see areas that seem to have slipped a bit and it is ok to talk about it....

I understand what you're saying, but the members of this board aren't the head coach of a 14-0 football team, that already has homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Meaning, BB needs to keep finding reasons to motivate the players. Us fans spewing BS within the pages of this website will have no effect on their play.

So, do you feel better now? Not that you have any clue about the substance of those comments and the nature in which they were conveyed . . . .

Is this another "the sky is falling" post?

Yes, they need work. I don't know who has argued against that. But what Belichick sees on film is a lot different that what we see on CBS. In other words, if he has something to say about the game, I'll listen to him.

As far as we fans go, I can only speak for myself that I've never followed a team quite like this record-wise. It's cool and special and scary in a lot of ways. I guess you can say that the Patriots haven't been perfect, but their record has been. :rocker:

A few things.
1) The people ripping into this team are doing so without 1% of the football knowledge that BB has forgotten.
2) When they do rip into the team, usually its without any support from reallity.

3) There have been threads that talk about areas needing improvement, but its typically NOT the OP who mentions it. The OPs have been the ones whining and complaining and not understanding what was going on.

I don't know of any poster here who has a problem with breaking down plays and showing the errors. Not a single poster. Not one. I'm sure they exist, if it makes you feel better, but that's not what the 'homers' call out the whiners for, since the homers A.) Don't actually know the plays, and B.) Don't make their arguments by even attempting to break the plays down.

"Player sucks!", on an undefeated team, is whining. Showing a series of Photos and saying something like "Look where player is missing his block because he's slow getting out of his stance" is legitimate criticism (It may not be accurate, but at least it's legitimate).

What's the matter Steamer, you bound up tonight?

I have a feeling Belichick's 45 minutes didn't consist of : Maroney is a bust. Meriweather is a bust. Watson sucks. Thomas is a disappointment. That's whining. And you can bet that's NOT what Belichick did.

You should know by now, it's ok for coaches to complain and/or whine. It's when fans start to do it that it gets sickening.

In my opinion, the game against the Steelers was one of the best games we've played this year. Since we can't count the Jets, Miami, Buffalo or any of the other crappy teams we've played, why do you think we played better football earlier in the year.

And BTW...it's NEVER ok to whine on this board. For you to use Brady's comments as a lead-in to you rationalizing complaining....get a life.

Good example, and this is the problem I have with a thread that states "we were playing better earlier" generalization and citing a Belichick woodshed lashing to confirm the generalization. My guess is that BB is seeing some things very differently than some of the more astute posters on this board.

Not saying the original post is wrong, but without specifics, it comes off as nothing more than a gut feel "sky is falling" post.

Re: Belichick ripped team today - if he did that on this site, he would be called whi

No, not a sky is falling post - I am psyched we are 14-0 and recognize it is a long season and there will be peaks and valleys, I just get tired of anyone who offers anything potentially critical getting ripped with "We are 14-0, enjoy it and stop being a jerk."

I think one can worry about our lack of offensive balance in December or worry about our run defense and tackling and post their concerns without being a "Bad" fan - which is how it seems sometimes. There are obviously ways to improve, even for a 14-0 team and this is the perfect forum to discuss those areas. It seems that some of us feel that we should only post "This is great. We are 14-0. Aren't we lucky to have Brady and BB." Well that is obvious. I think it is interesting to examine our concerns...and not being anti-Patriot to do so.

Excellent point, and don't let anyone spin it any other way. It is perfectly reasonable to discuss team lapses and shortcomings and still be a bonifide fan (although there are some prone to hysterics or hyperbole).

Ha ha. You're a whiner.

He'll have a press conference saying how good the dolphins are too!

Re: Belichick ripped team today - if he did that on this site, he would be called whi

People have been questioning linebackers and cornerback and running back depth all year.

If you made specific recommendations to improve the team nobody would say anything.

Seems to me an attention grabbing move about whining, not about improving the team.

Many fans tend to rip opinions they don't agree with... Hypothetically speaking, if Belichick posted anonymously on this board about areas that need improvement he would be ripped by some... same goes for Tomlin on a Steelers board or any coach for that matter. If they knew it was the coach himself they would agree with it, however, if not they'll rip it. That's just the way some people are.

Does anyone disagree with that? If a new poster started a thread about areas that need improvement would he be bashed by many? I think he would... no matter who he was or how intelligent his post is.

P.S. Just to clarify, I'm talking about fans in general, not this board in particular.

There has not been a prefect game played by perfect players yet. What us "homers" object to is generalized whining about a specific players, without giving any specific plays.

I could point out to "False Start Light" but that would be nit picking. Matt has been a good, not great, LT since he came here.

Another example is AD got sucked in on the option play against the Jets. But overall he played a very good game. Is it right to start a thread blasting him for that one play?

Yes we are 14-0 and the coaches and players deserve the credit from us fans. If we spent hours breaking down the film, then we would find something about every player to point out as a bad play.

Re: Belichick ripped team today - if he did that on this site, he would be called whi

How is this a story. BB has been doing this from day 1 in 2000. Where do you think the 'humble pie' tshirt idea came from. No matter what game it is BB will roll film of everything they did wrong so they can fix the mistakes. You could tell this story after any win or loss in the BB era, let's move along!
