Per ESPN Just now:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3161733

No details yet on the offer:

"Parcells turned down the position, Falcons owner Arthur Blank said Wednesday in a statement. Blank said the team had an agreement in principle with Parcells, but after he told the Falcons he was considering an offer from the Miami Dolphins, negotiations fell through. Parcells was considering an offer to join the team's front office as vice president of football operations"

So... Belichick will have to beat Mangini AND Parcells now within his own division? Yeeesh.

Per ESPN Just now.

Link to come when they put it up.

what is the "revised" offer?

No clue, the story just broke and there's no link with details yet.

Parcells wanted more Coors Light commercials. Owner Wayne Huizenga had to think long and hard about changing the official drink of the Dolphins. It was previously tears.

I'm not that young myself, but Parcells looks like he could be in the doddering old fool category before long. Why don't they rehire Shula?

For exactly the same reason. Only difference being, he already is in that category.

Old Billy Boy, up to his old tricks (agreeing with one team, then screwing them for something better). I don't think BB would mind at all coaching against Mangini & Parcells. Except for the one blip last year he's beaten them pretty soundly. He certainly knows the enemy in both cases.

Guess we can forget about Jason Taylor.

Huizenga is trying to increase the value of his team before selling it. Hiring Parcells as GM, given the Tuna's impressive track record at reviving moribund franchises, would accomplish that.

If Parcells takes over the 'Phins, IMO he will draft BC QB Matt Ryan at #1 overall, despite the fact Randy Mueller took Beck last year in rd 2. The reason I say that is IMO Parcells would not come back to manage a franchise with a top 3 pick like Miami or Atlanta unless he had targeted a franchise changing player he could acquire in the draft. That player would likely be a Qb.

Exactly. Just like hiring Parcells made the Patriots franchise worth more.
I really hope Ryan does go to Miami or at least in the top 3 so that the remaining choices for the Pats are more valuable. Mueller at Miami is about to end after taking The Ginn Family and Beck the instant bust as two of the top 50 players drafted.

Arthur Blank can't catch a break. (I was going to say "Poor Arthur Blank..." but then realized he might be a lot of things, but poor isn't one of them.)

But from Parcells' point of view, it doesn't make sense, unless he's there for the very short term. Why work for an owner who is actively trying to sell ("I'm not selling but I'm listening to offers is actively selling in my book") when you know you will have a new boss and there's the matter of the great unknown??????

Yes, Parcells will instantly make the team worth more, and even more by the end of February after all the staff is in place. I would expect that his status after any sale will be an important part of the agreement.

Ginn is hardly a bust. If he were drafted in the 3rd round, he'd be considered a rising star. They just drafted him early. The same is probably true for Beck.
To me, they got a 2nd and 3rd rounder in the 1st and 2nd. That's not terrible if they turn out to be contributers. Of course, for years beck will be compared to Quinn.

What a diss. It was all over ESPN that Parcells was taking the Atlants job. What a diss.

Parcells is starting to develop a history of not being able to make up his mind, and for also kind of screwing over various teams due to his mercenary-like behavior.

*** Slight adjust to your quote, only kept the parts that are revalent

Once is an accident, twice is a habit, three time is a pattern

Parcells is a scum bag. He has zero intergrity! After agreeing in principal to take Arthure Bakns money, he decides to jack Blank up even more by negotiating with Miami.
He did this with us in '96. The only difference is that is was during Superbopwl week in New Orleans and he was negotiating with the Jets.
This is one small step below what Bobby Petrinbo did last week.
The guy is trash!

Good to see a tiger never changes it's stripes. Or spots, as Emmit would say.

Poney's right. Still there are lots of horses in FLA and a chance to strick to his old protrege might be irisistable.

Gotta think that between his ex-Padawan Belichick flirting with 16-0 and the Boys he built on the verge of going 14-2, Parcells's ego must be might hungry.

He's found the spotlight again and will milk it for all it's worth.
