We must run on Miami.
At least to set up the pass.
A lot of Maroney and Faulk.
They are the 32 ranked run defense.
4Th ranked pass defense.
Beat up pretty bad.
Probably exhausted emotionally after beating Baltimore.
Still not an automatic win for us.
But with the run setting up the pass in say the 3-4WR/TE 1 RB set,
with decent weather I can see us with hope to match the 72 dolphin punishment of NE. Yup they beat us that year 52-0 and Shula knows it.
Wouldn't mind revisiting that result weather permitting...
Your Thoughts????

4Th ranked pass defense.
4th in pass yards allowed but 29th in YPA against the pass. We can run or pass to set up the run or pass. Unless we don't bother tackling like last time we played them in the second half it's a total yawner (not complaining, I love yawners).

Just need to make sure Shula doesn't sneak on at field level in disguise as a ball handler. I see a Woody Hayes moment where with a glazed and distant look in his eyes he tackles a Patriot running towards the end zone with the ball for a sure touchdown while chanting, "Preserve '72, preserve '72, preserve '72 . . . . . "

Just make sure no Patriots players eat at Shula's steakhouse in Providence, the night before the game..remember the Don's old steakhouse addage...

"Steak at Shula's tonight by golly...

plenty (p)tomaine tomolley..."

My thoughts are that there's not much we "must" do to beat Miami. We will kill them, one way or another. They will have NO fire after getting that "big" win over with.

It's looking like another crappy day, weather-wise, so hopefully we'll continue to establish the run, hope Maroney's confidence and rhythm continues to improve, and win a bit more convincingly. Wouldn't mind seeing Brady throw at least a few TDs.

Ho hum. 15-0.

Oh Ya, I almost forgot...

We need to keep a snow plow ready...
Just in case...:D :D :D

Heard yesterday that Jason Taylor is on crutches, that will give Brady even more time to throw..

are they 4th vs the pass cos people can run on them? Weather might be the issue.

Just after week 9 and our win over Indy, what I really wanted to see from the Pats was HFA and ultimately, a SuperBowl win. Having said that, and after hearing all the "mediots", bashers, and naysayers, I really want Brady to break Peyton's TD record and see this team go 19-0! I want to be able to look back at this team and tell younger people I saw the greatest team and QB ever with no argument.

Really?? He didn't look so bad after the game last Sunday, whooping it up on the field like they had won the Superbowl. Might want to double-check that.

Actually, the 'phins have NEVER been an automatic out, ever. They ALWAYS play us tough, even at Foxboro late in the year, with snow, wind, and 25 degree weather. For the 'phins beating the Patriots makes their off-season feel like peaches, second only to winning the Superbowl.

The Dolphins are DEFINITELY spoiler material. This is the only thing that matters for their whole season. IF they lose 14 but can beat the 14-0 Pats, they are happy.

This game is NOT a lock by any stretch.

Taylor returned to the game but was on the field sporadically in the fourth quarter and overtime period.

Taylor insinuated the injury isn't serious enough to make him miss his next start, which would give him the outright record for the longest consecutive games played streak in franchise history. He's presently tied with former Dolphins center Jim Langer with 128.

Despite the foot injury, Taylor had one of his best games this season, registering four tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hurries and one pass deflection. This is his sixth season with 10 or more sacks in his 11-year career, and third straight.

Looks like he's playing

Kind of agree on this. Can never overlook a team that has absolutely nothing to lose!!!! They can be very dangerous because they can do totally unexpected, off normal, offensive and defensive looks and attacks. Fake punts, onside kicks, unusual line formations and so on. Just to mess up what you "expect" from them based on past meetings.

They have no reason not to throw away the normal book (especially since their normal book hasn't done a freaking thing for them all year. Could be time to improvise). This is a team to be very wary of in this situation. Tom must be on his toes for this one, don't need a seasons worth of frustration for a desparate but proud team to lead to a defeat by not taking them seriously.

It would make sense because they have been behind most of the time. Teams run more when they are ahead, pass more when they are behind. Ranking are based on yards allowed per game, not per attempt, so fewer opponents' pass attempts yields fewer opponents' passing yards per game, hence the high ranking despite the YPA against the pass being 29th.

If the weather isn't too bad I say let's go for Brady and Moss's passing records, and the team scoring record. We can tune up for the playoffs against the Giants, who will probably have something to play for.
