Miami May Be Troy Brown's Last RS Game at Gillette. Bill: Send Out Our Rudy!!

By the way, I don't mean to potentially insult Troy Brown by comparing him to Rudy, I simply mean to say he is beloved and similar in his tenacity and work ethic. Troy is obviously talented, and our all-time Patriots receiver in receptions.

Troy will play. I expect to see him in red-zone offenses. This game is all about records. We gave up our 4th round draft choice so that Troy could have this chance. We will use it. And yes, Brady will be put in situations to score passing TD's. This game is for the records.

22nd player to score a touchdown for the Patriots?

BRING ON THE RECORD BOOKS

Hear hear!

And as we all know, BB does indeed keep the history books in mind, not to mention how much the region loves Troy.

But this won't be just about sentimentality. I predict Troy will be active this week, especially given the forcast for rain. It makes perfect sense to give Troy some gametime against a team like the Fins in a game that will likely favor the short pass.

Best to give him some reps now before we go into the playoffs when we could well need him - be it a backup DB, or a sure hands returner, or a receiving option - or even an emergency QB.

That's a question that might be worth considering. I don't think the emergency QB counts on the active roster - but the question is, can the emergency QB play in the 4th quarter - but not as a QB?

i agree, i think he will be active this weekend and they are working on getting him a score in practice

In a perfect scenario, he would not only be the 22nd Patriot to score but the person to receive the 50th TD pass.

Maybe we can start a new slogan "Troy for 50", what do you think?

It could be possible that it is also the TD that breaks the team single season points record too.

Brady to Brown.

One more time.

as per BB in WEEI yesterday troy played brad smith on the scout team last week

Ever since Kevin Faulk was inactive for the first game of the season after portraying Kordell Stewart, I've suspected that kind of practice contribution could cause a guy who was regarded as basically worthy of activation to be a healthy scratch. I.e., there's every reason to hope he's ready to go.

One thing, however -- Welker probably also wants to play a lot vs. Miami. :)

This could be a great game to test out replacements for ailing TEs, be they tall receivers (Washington) or slot receivers (Welker and Troy playing at the same time).

That's really cruel to us Brown sized guys!

I had the same thought earlier this week, so I'll repost......

I say yes--he's activated, plays, and gets a catch. The game against Miami is as close to a guaranteed win as is possible in the NFL, much more than the Jets game. The Dolphins are lousy, they actually got their win yesterday, I'm sure Brady & Co. would like to put some points on the board again, etc. So it's a "safe" game to activate him if there ever was one.

Also, since I think keeping him on the team this year is as close to a sentimental move that you'll ever see BB make, I think he'll want to complete it by giving Brown a chance to make a play and have the crowd go wild for him. Which he certainly deserves.

This is a scenario that's impossible not to like. The collective desire of the fans for this to happen is in place. Let's go Troy!!!

Love the idea in this thread...
Hope it happens.

I would love to see bradys 50th TD pass go the brown, as he has been there the whole time

I don't think the Rudy comparison would be taken as an insult. Everyone know Troy has nothing left to prove and who doesn't love Rudy?

Death to anyone that doesn't love Rudy!

Am I the only one that thinks Welker and Brown in the same game (with Moss and Gaffney as well) could be a very deadly combination. They are both so good at running routes and finding the open space and neither one of them drops the ball... not to mention the shifty runs after the catch.

I'm pretty excited about this combination actually.

Being from Huntington, WV - Home of Marshall University - I find great satisfaction and pride in the fact that the 2 most prolific WRs in PATS recent history played ball at Marshall. I say we make it a "thank you HERD weekend" and have Brady toss 2 TDs to Brown and 3 to Moss. That would give Brady the record, give Moss a tie for the record, and give my man Troy a well deserved Thank You for years of memories.

He hasn't been activated since he's been on the team again, would shock me if he was this week.

Would LOVE it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

wtf, mate, why does this thread have only 3 stars?

who hates troy?

stupid nonpatsfan trolls...
