I was flipping through the dial just now and landed on WFAN. Some guy calls in and talks about how Brady looked during his combine (a scarecrow) and how he looks now and how there's no way he's not juicing given how he "became a success overnight". The hosts said they didn't know but he could be and then went on to say "how could he if he's impregnating all these women?". Then they start talking about drugs he could be taking to counter the effect and reiterated that he could be juicing.

I don't mind some banter back and forth but this seemed a little over the top.

It's a NY radio station talking about the QB from one of their team's rivals. No different than people here bashing Arod. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

If this were 2001 and he looked that different then I would agree. But this is 7 years later, you can change your body and put on a LOT of muscle in 7 years.

Dude, screw a caller, half the callers in NY are sausage delivery men that have the brain capacity of a bratwurst. Often enough, I scratch my head to the point of wondering if some of these people were hit by a semi at a young age.

Brady added about 25 lbs of largely muscle to a frame that could certainly use it. That is the kind of development you would expect to see from a 22 year old 6'4" 195 lb college player maturing after a year of working out full time with a professional staff. He's still actually pretty svelt looking compared to guys like Roethlisberger and Palmer who carry around another 15-25 lbs on their frames. If I were gonna wonder about QB's it would be the ones like poor old Chad, and Carson, and Ben, who returned dramatically early from supposedly devastating and historically debilitating injuries...

I have no idea what Eli might have dabbled in other than bad DNA...but that's what they should be wondering aloud about on WFAN.

Not to mention, what's with all the acne on Mangini...LOL

Hell, I look a whole lot different now than I did when I was 22. It's called maturing. I look at Brady, all I see is skinny kid from college who grew into his body because all the guy does is work himself physically.

There's a huge difference between putting on muscle over the years and blowing up over one offseason.

New York fans are, on the whole, very stupid.

Ridiculous. When i joined the Marines I weighed 175. When I got out of Paris Island I weighed 152. After 4+ years in the infantry I weighed 205. Between the ages of 20 and 30 the human body is clay easily molded through dedication and discipline.

I know this isn't so or he would have gotten off the injury list over the last four years! :D

Totally unfair to bratwurst.

There are incredible misconceptions of what steroids can and cannot do for an athlete's performance. Steroids or HGH would not make you recognize defenses, they wouldn't improve your accuracy, nor would they help you go through your checkdowns quickly.

Even with Bonds, they may have helped his hitting power, but they didn't help him find the ball with his bat. Enough already with this BS.

I would agree if it were just the caller. But the hosts totally took it off the reservation from there. I just don't see Dale and Holley going there on someone like Pennington.

Brady's weight gain was at a natural pace over the course of a number of years. He didn't have that Nomar, leave the clubhouse in October 180 lbs, report in March 220 lbs ballooning. And, as others have mentioned, unless they're putting "cool" in syringes now, you can't inject his poise or ability to read defenses.

Steroids/HGH increase bat speed. Increased bat speed provides the ability to catch up to pitches you would ordinarily miss. That means it does help you find the ball with your bat. Also, fly balls outs became extra base hits and homeruns, ground ball outs became rockets through the hole. As for football, it is foolish to think steroids provide no benefit. Increased power and explosion provide great advantages at virtually evry position, and the ability to recover from not just serious injury but the weekly grind through aid of chemical enhancements is another advantage over clean players. It also could increase arm strength for a Qb, the ability to throw the deep out and the sideline pass, crucial so that defenses don't cheat toward the middle of the field as they do vs Pennington.

if Brady is juicing, he is getting screwed by his supplier ;)

he has put on muscle, but come on, that kid is still pretty thin. the whole premise is pretty funny!

This is just NY media striking out after some of their "stars" had the shine taken off of them the other day. Don't give them the time of the day!

Did they see the SNL skit where Brady had his shirt off or sleeves off or something, b/c I did, and anyone who did clearly saw that Tom Brady is definitely not on steroids. He's one scrawny dude.

I don't see how this can be classified as being "totally dissed."

I put it that way because of the way they (the show's hosts) quickly classified Brady as someone who might be juicing but then the comment (again, made by the show's hosts) about impregnating multiple women would be a reason why he "couldn't be juicing" sent it to the arena of disrespect. At least in my book it did.
