NE: 14 wins
BUF: 7
NYJ: 3
MIA: 1
Total rest of AFCE: 11. If they were to all win out, they would reach 17 wins. With Miami playing NE this weekend, its likely Miami will lose, putting the max wins for the rest of the AFCE at 16 wins. It's doubtful that anyone in the division, other than the Pats (and Maybe BUF), will win out. I wonder when the last time this happened was.

Stupid question, what does the "(10 characters)" mean? I've seen it on this board a lot but can't figure it out. Could someone please enlighten me?

1972 AFCE

1972 AFCE standings
Phins 14-0
Jets 7-7
Colts (Baltimore) 5-9
Bills 4-9-1
Pats 3-11

total wins of other 4 teams = 22

If I understood the question, when did one teams total wins exceed the rest of the division, it did not happen in 1972.

Good catch, I had forgotten that Baltimore made it a 5-team AFCE; however, the other 4 had 19 wins, not 22. That's still more than the 17 total for Miami that season.
