I know this might have been posted already, but I looked over the numbers from 2001-2007.

This year's 4.0 ypc is second highest -- 2004 was 4.1

This year's 28.6 attempts per game is 5th highest in the 7 years, but 2 of the higher years were within 1 attempt per game.

This year's 12th ranking for yards per game is tied for the second highest behind 2004 (Pats were 7th) and tied with 2006.

The numbers don;t look so bad compared to other years in the Patriots dynastic era.

Keep it on the low.
Maroney sucks and has a glass jaw and blah, blah ,blah!
We all have to get wood thinking about getting Mcfadden(SP?) in the draft.

But, but, but, but, ESPN says we can't run the ball....oh no, we're doomed.........

I think too many people are fixated on the running game in 2004; but that was really more of an aberrational year in the running game for the Pats. Take out that year, and this year is about second overall in running game in the PDE (Pats Dynasty Era). Considering the competition from the historic passing game, this is not bad.

If you're a footballousider kind of guy, the Pats are #1 in rushing this year, and 4th in 2004. (However, I have to be a little suspicious of the FO methodology when JAX is ranked only 10th.)

I think a lot of people are missing one question ehre. He did it against a te2rrible Jets D, can he do it consistantly?

Thats my only question. Obviously, Maroney is not going to get much more yardage at this point the way he has been used. It took to game 13 for the Pats to commit to the running game again without Morris. Lets be honest, Maroney is not gonna have a great season when he is used 5 times a freaking game. I have a conspiracy theory, and this is a dead honest question. Once Bill saw Morris go down, did he think maybe to save Maroney for this time of year? I really don't think that's such an outlandish thought when we've had the passing game we've had to live off of. Just food for thought I guess ;)

He also did it against the Jets when they knew he was going to be running it because of the weather.
