on ESPNNEWS were doing their 'power rankings' ..i guess it was all in fun..
here are hoge's rankings

1.colts
2.jaguars
3.patriots
4.packers
5.vikings

apparently he says his phone number is on website and any boston area fans who have a problem should give him a call :). Of course his theory is that the pats are not as physical as the above 2 and if it was anyone other than the jets yesterday they wouldve lost and in similar elements the jets wont be playing in the playoffs..

Schelerth of course was more conventional
1.pats
2.colts.
3.packers
4.cowboys
5.jags

Bahahaha.

Jags get a two game winning streak and now they're elite? Against a bad Panthers team and a Steelers team we just blew out?

Hoge is such a joke. I can't even comment much more on this, it's a joke.

Why does Schelerth coat his hair with black shoe polish? If he's going to colour his hair he should at least get it done professionally so it doesn't make him look like a dork.

A little of Hoge's analysis I'd say has been true (the Pats have had trouble with more physical teams who grind out the clock and the elements that slow down the offense and force guys like Stallworth off the field), but his rankings are complete bull****.

According to Ordway, Hoge said if the Pats played the Jags yesterday, they would have lost.

'Nuff said.

Oh, and Hoge doesn't even have a website.

Napolean Dynamite would'nt look like a dork next to Frankenweenie Hoge

well the pats wouldve lost to the jags yesterday if the pats wouldve played like they played ysterday and the jags D wouldve also played like the jets D. So hypothetically assuming everything was same and just the jags players were playing instead of the jets then maybe they wouldve won. Hypothetical analysis is the easiest.
Jags cant beat the colts after chatting up every yr. Maybe they shouldve prove that first.

The Colts are more physical than the Pats. Wow.

Will somebody PLEASE send a copy of that to Rodney?!

Thank you.

Ya think the blonde headed boob stopped to think that the Colts just barely got by the 4 - 10 Raiders, with two pass interference calls not being made that probably would have ended up in the game being tied at the end? Hoge has always picked against the Pats as they reeled off three SB titles this decade.

add another moron to visit the "Punch In The Mouth" booth at the Super Bowl week festivities in Arizona.

"Merrill Hoge!!!...c'mon down!"

gotta hate the Haters

Hodge is a non-believer. Ditka, too. And Tom Jackson is a huge (but totally passive-aggressive) Patriots hater. Listen to him. He never calls the Pats out, but he's always cutting on them in some small way, raising doubts or questioning something. He's a hater.

Mort and Boomer are closet Pats fans. Steve Young, too. And Keyshawn's a fan.

Forgot Prisco and Borges. The ultimate haters. Cant believe I forgot them. They define the term.

Double post.

Hmmm. And if the Colts played a better team that the Raiders, the Colts would have lost? Maybe if the Jags played someone better than the Steelers right now, the Jags would have lost?

This kind of talk is nonsense. Teams play to the competiion, and the score dictates what teams do. Jets are moving nowhere and Pats had a lead, so the offense does not need to step up (would have been nicer if they had). Did anyone think that game was in jeopardy?

Hoge is moron. He thinks that any team is not the Steelers sucks and if the Steelers Suck he would take anyone but the Patriots. He might even put the Fins over Pats in his ranking if no one call him out on it. Roc Hoover on the other hand knows what he is talking about most of the time

I love the way people can actually discount an undefeated team. Even if you don't like NE it shouldn't be possible to list them anything but first without being openly mocked. Hasn't Jacksonville lost five games? And I'm supposed to believe they're better than an undefeated team? I'm supposed to believe Hoge isn't a fool? How does taking an obviously stupid position build credibility?

I told my girlfriend who doesn't care about football about the "if the Patriots didn't play the Jets they would have lost" theory. You know what she said? "But they only played the way they did because they had a lead the whole game. If they weren't ahead they would have been more aggressive and tried to score more."

I feel like the Sports Guy. I have discovered that a woman who doesn't like football provides better analysis than many experts.

I doubt Hoge, even though he comes off as a massive douche on camera, agrees with his very own power rankings. ESPN producers force their on-air "talent" to make bizarre and wacky statements. Hence John Kruk picking the Pirates to be in first place in the NL Central by the end of this past May.

Jacksonville has lost only four games, but regardless the Pats have proven they are the best team in the league thus far and anyone who doesn't think so is obviously either a) mentally challenged or b) trying to keep ratings. As far as Hoge goes I think it is the latter but his arguement about if the Pats were playing the Jaguars they would have lost holds no weight what so ever. You can't play what if in the NFL. If the Pats were playing the Jags they would have gameplanned differently than the Steelers did and vice versa with Jacksonville. So many things are different, the goal is to win the game next week not to be able to say we would have beat Jacksonville playing like this or something.

Sorry, but there is NO WAY you can claim that the Pats would have lost to the Jags yesterday unless you are clairvoiyant. Are you? Didn't think so.

As soon as you change that large of a dynamic, all pretenses b ehind the game are out the window. Everything becomes pure speculation. Not even an educated guess.

Why do the posters here care what these people think or say? It's not actual information, it's just the opinion of idiots in the media.
