What happens when we close out the 2007-08 regular season undefeated. Will Goddell have the guts to face our team in NY (Giants in meadowlands, so right in his backyard) and congratulate us ?

If I am BB/Pioli/Kraft, I refuse to see the azzwipe after the game. Rather videotape a thankyou and mail it to his offices, and tell him to stick it where it hurts :rocker:

Should make for an interesting drama come last week of the season. The worst part is to listen to those Doofus NFL Network announcers

hahaha Goddell the moron and his cronies will keel over since
1. Pats go 16-0 (good chance for SB win)
2. Pats lose #1 pick, but get a top 5 pick in 2008 draft
3. Moss signs an extension

:singing:

You're whole argument is based on the premise that Goodell hates the Pats and that BB/Kraft/Brady/Pioli hate him as well. Has the Commissioner or the Pats openly said anything to that effect?

The Pats were caught breaking a league rule and then Goodell did his job (assign and enforce a penalty). I'm sure BB wasn't in the best of moods when he had to sign that check to the NFL but do you think BB has the gaul and bad manners to snub the Commissioner of his sport?

What the Pats and BB will do if Goodell decides to honor the Pats for a perfect season is to accept the Commissioner's congratulations graciously. The Pats have nothing to gain by being pr!cks.

i'm sure both parties want to put spygate behind them:rolleyes:

Snubbing the Commissioner makes absolutely no sense and would be about th lousiest thing any team could do.

If the Patriots go 16-0, I'm reasonably sure they will take all the accolades they will receive with aplomb and graciousness.

If they go 19-0, they should be especially low-key and gracious. At that point their record would speak loudly and clearly. I suspect I would not live to see it equaled.

I suspect the Krafts have had plenty of dealings with the league and the comissioner's office since "spygate." I wouldn't even be surprised if there have been private discussions among many of the relevant participants that none of us has any idea about.

I don't fully agree that it is love and kisses between Roger Goodell and the

Pats. I think BB will hold resentment against the Commisioner until his

dying day. BB probably feels he did nothing wrong and was punished

much too severely. After the tapes were burned, the Commisioner

threatened the Pats with more penalties if any future incidents occurred.

If the Pats finish 19-0, Goodell will get a BB/Mangini hand shake.

If we win v. Miami, and then win in NY, I wouldn't expect anyone to congratulate us, or BB to want that. We would've won exactly nothing at that point.

Well said, and those are the facts.

That supposed spy-gate crap............quite simply..........the Pats got screwed!!!!!!

A run away train coming off the tracks !!!!!

Except of course to be the first team ever to win every game in a 16-game season, set a regular season win streak of 19 straight games, beating the old NFL record of 18 straight, win the division, earn a bye, earn home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and do it all with fewer injuries than any of our previous superbowl injuries.

Yeah, except for than, we ain't done nothing.

Yeah, but we aren't Indy, and we won't hang a banner for any of that.....

Question I have is where did the money go. Did they donate it to charity or did it go towards the Robert Goodell rainy day fund:rolleyes:

Any one know?

The Patriots broke a rule and got punished. I think it was too severe and I'm not a big fan of his, but Commish Goodell was trying to send a message to the league. What I CAN fault him for is his failure to make it ABUNDANTLY clear the difference between what happened and actual "cheating."

He could've helped spin this story more accurately, could've controlled the message to some degree - and NOT to "help" Belichick or the Patriots, but to better serve his league. He didn't, he F'd it up. Not much to do about it now, but I honestly don't believe he "hates" the Patriots.

Nonsense. We will have accomplished something noone else has ever done -- a perfect 16 game regular season. It's not our ultimate goal, but it IS an accomplishment to be proud of.

As a similar example, we have now won the AFC East five years in a row. We only won the SB twice in that time (so far), and that overshadows the AFC East as an accomplishment of course. But at the end of this dynasty, one of the things in the record books for this team is at least five division titles in a row. And I bet the players are proud that they did so.

Goodell came down very hard on the Pats. He could have just fined Belichick. Instead, he came after the whole team by taking a very valuable commodity in a 1st rounder, when it is clear to everyone in the NFL that teams took all sorts of liberties regarding videoing. Goodell didn't just do his job. It's like everyone speeding on a straight away day after day and then one day, it's enforced and the unlucky driver gets a severe penalty like being thrown in prison and losing his car as punishment for only speeding.

He wanted Belichick to have his reputation pissed on and for the Pats to be the punchline for jokes. It was all deliberate because Goodell is new on the job and wanted to show everyone he has the biggest **** in the room now and to not cross him or he'll bring the pain.

Jets Commish Godell showed two distinct character flaws.

He felt he needed to appear macho.
After all, only a year earlier he had circulated an executive order on this very topic.
And that Belichick ignored it!

His vanity compelled him to pander to the screeching hate-media.
Levying by far the most drastic penalty ever levied
... for doing out in the open on the sidelines what would have been fine
if done in many other loocations ...
and what he hastened to exonerate those very Jets for doing
in another prohibited location!

Therefore Godell must exhibit stellar performance in office
for quite a few years
before he can redeem his sullied reputation.

It is hard to respect the office
when it is occupied by a turkey.

Well Put. He could;ve levied the fines and moved on. The silliness of 1st rd pick if Pats goto Playoffs OR 2nd+3rd if no Playoofs was idiotic

That's like if you cheated on the cap by over $2Mill you lose 3rd rounder
over 3Mill 2nd rounder
over 4Mill 1st rounder.

Now, when Jets are shown to have been doing same shannanigans he wants to kill the issue.

Regardless, the Pats organization will still win......we will win the SB, and on top of that land a top5 pick.

Now the turkey can baste. Would have loved it to be #1 pick.....that would've been ironic justice for the ages !

Yea the whole issue is all in the fans' minds now. Everyone involved is over it (to a point, I'm sure BB and co. won't forget though).

The basic problem with all of you is NOT really a problem, it is WHO YOU ARE. You all are, to a man, good, honest hardworking Joes and staunch Patriots fans.

Who is this Roger Goodell and what reason could he possibly have to DENIGRATE, DEGRADE and attempt to DESTROY the Patriots franchise, and by DIRECT ASSOCIATION, its' LOYAL,HONEST,HARD-WORKING and LONG SUFFERING fanbase?

Well...let's take a look shall we and see if there is ANY kind of red herring or indication of hidden bias, shall we?

New commissioner joined NFL in 1982

Roger Goodell
Roger Goodell, named the NFL's commissioner on Tuesday, has a long history with the league. On his resume:

Previous job

• Named NFL executive vice president and chief operating officer by Commissioner Paul Tagliabue in December 2001. Among his duties was serving as president of NFL Ventures, Inc. (which oversees the NFL's business units, including media properties, marketing and sales, consumer products, international, stadium development, special events, and strategic planning). He also ran the league's football operations and officiating departments.

• 1982: Joined league in 1982 as an intern in the NFL's offices in New York.

• 1983: Worked for the New York Jets in public relations and administration offices.

• 1984: Returned to the NFL's offices as a public relations assistant.

Accomplishments

• Involved in launch of the NFL Network and negotiations for the NFL's television agreements and Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL Players' Association.

Personal

• Born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Feb. 19, 1959.

• Graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in 1981 with a degree in economics.

• Serves on the boards of the national and New York chapters of Big Brothers & Big Sisters.

Well...isn't THAT just so convenient...starts out as a JET intern, then a media shill, lives in N.Y.,is behind the MAJOR BB critic channel, the NFLN and ran the NFL officiating department, which (oh,say it ain't so, Joker!) considered EVERY SINGLE RECOMMENDATION by the satanic Polian and instituted every Polian rule proposed.

You guys think he is our unbiased commisioner....when in fact he is nothing more than a NY Jet mole, lifelong NY advocate and in DIRECT OPPOSITION to one Mr. Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots Football franchise.

I find his actions this season REPREHENSIBLE, his motivations BIASED towards his DOCUMENTED roots in the league and his continued sham as "commisioner" a slap in the face to ANY true NFL football fan.
