If we win SB with Caldwell, do we get Moss?

I say no. It was obvious after the Colts loss that the Patriots were at least 1 good receiver away from going deep into the playoffs the following year. Brady called Moss and told him he wanted him with the Patriots, I believe before BB and Moss ever talked about a possibility. I think a free agent wide receiver from another team also said that Brady tried to talk them into playing for the Patriots.

Had we beat the Colts 35-10 and won the Super Bowl last year, we likely would have never thought of getting Moss, nor would he feel as special coming into play, knowing that the Patriots just won the Super Bowl without any good receivers.

no way... the beauty about the pats is they never get complacent. they always look to upgrade their personnel and look to improve through any advantage. i believe we would still have welker and moss. who knows about stallworth.

I'll take one missed Super Bowl for 5+ more years of Brady to Moss.

Did it hurt? God damn right it did. That game stung for months. Hell it's the worst loss I've ever experienced as a sports fan, even tops the 2003 ALCS. But it's all starting to feel better now...

I say yes to Welker. I don't think we'd get Moss. Then again it wasn't as much about us wanting Moss as much as Oakland trying to get rid of Moss to any team.

It's an interesting question.

We know they had been trying to upgrade the receivers for a while (going after Javon Walker and Derrick Mason), but for various reasons it hasn't worked out. I do think the receiving corp this year would be Moss, Stallworth, Welker, even with a Superbowl win last year.

there was talk DURING last season on trading for Moss. Too bad it didn't happen earlier.

If we win the superbowl with Caldwell; we don't spend 10 million on Moss.

If we win the superbowl with Caldwell; we still spend 3million+incentives & 4th rund pick for Moss.

Winning the superbowl; being the best team; or being the worst team. I bet no team in the league would've passed up the one year 3million+incentives Moss contract. The reason all other teams passed on Moss is because it would've cost all of them 2 years 20 million

I think we do. BB's affection for Moss is lifelong and the situation in Oakland had nothing to do with our AFCCG loss.

BB has been acquiring his prototypical players since he got here. Big, athletic, smart WRs are clearly on the menu. Until Moss, none of these worked in the system (jury is still out on Chad).

Absolutely. The Patriots didn't create the opportunity to acquire Moss. The Moss opportunity presented itself to us, and we took advantage. That's how the Patriots work.
