Wind Is Now Going To Be An Issue, Not Snow Or Even Rain

I have no illusions when it comes to Brady and the weather - TB is a king of mastering foul weather. However, the latest numbers point to the main low pressure area bombing out in SE MA during Sunday afternoon. This usually means that precip will be little or none (due to the proverbial dry slot, plus most precip falls out in front of the actuall low) but the wind will go crazy as the low erupts overhead - expect steady 25-30mph NE (shifting to the SW) winds gusting towards 50mph for most of the game, especially the first half.

With temps near 40 degrees and just some mist or sprinkles, ball handling should be fine but passing will likely be a one way deal - and maybe we'll see a 60yd+ field goal try.

Oh well, the Jets stink at run defense and wouldn't just be another feather in the cap of this team to jam it to the Jets with 200yds+ on the ground, whacking them to the tune of 35-0? :rocker:

Reports keep changing I haven't seen one that
has remained constant. I saw one earlier today that said 8-9 mph winds
during the game.
I don't think anyone will know until game time.

I am not as confident as you. If PATs become one dimensional and must
run ... JETs will probably play the run. PATs run game is decent BECAUSE
of it's pass game. Take away the pass game and you are in uncharted
waters.

It will be interesting to see what happens if the Patriots need their running game. I am certain they can run the ball, but who gets the job done?

Another thing just hit me about the running game. The Patriots were running the ball prior to Morris getting hurt. After he got hurt they stopped running the ball.

The biggest downside I would expect is the ability for the defensive secondary to cheat on really deep routes when the offense is playing into the wind.
Stuff under 20 yards, screens, quick slants, etc should be ok.
I see Stallworth, Welker, and Gaffney getting more of those screen type outs along the sidelines when the o-line pulls a couple blockers.

Passing the ball under 20 yards should be fine. Running the ball would help as well. I expect we may see 40% of the calls tomorrow having someone run the ball. Looking forward to see what it looks like.

Winds are supposedly going to be East/NE, anyone know which end of the stadium is open? If the wind will be hitting the closed end of the stadium, everything but the long ball should be in play.

30 MPH winds, down pours of rain. It will have an effect on the game. Not as much as it would have with the old gillete field. Thank god we don't have that anymore!

I'm from maine and as I recall the weather changes bout every 10 minutes in New England.
We'll be fine.
Just expect more runs, draws,screens and short passes.

And quite possibly turnovers. In clear weather, I say we destroy the Jets. In these elements, it should be much tougher.

You guys would be better off putting moss or welker at RB than bologna maroney...or even morris at this point. NE is great but the rushing game is horrible for the supposed "elite".

As predicted, the dry slot is moving in big time and nearly all precip will shut off in SE Mass by 10-11am, sprinkles or very light sleet is all that should happen during the game. The wind is still looking to be an issue - steady 25mph from the NE maybe shifting to SW very late in the game. It won't even be that cold as temps in Foxboro are already 30F. radar below is from 8:15am
