Apologies if i missed this topic in another thread (moderators feel free to merge in).

But I was astonished in last weeks game with Pittsburgh to see the Pittsburgh player (other Smith?) come up behind Brady and butt him helmut to helmut from behind. Why didn't that get an unsportsmanlike penalty immediately ? And even if for some reason that I can't imagine an official wasn't watching when a Patriot - and especially Brady - is walking thru Pittsburgh players, WHY WASN'T THERE A LEAGUE REVIEW AND FINE ?? ??

There is no such thing as: "Well, if a helmut to helmut hit is not too bad or if it's long enough after the last play, we'll just let it go". Hogwash. Some may recall my rather definite kudos for NFL refereeing in past posts, but this year has me shaking my head - including my former total respect for Mike Pereira, head of officiating.

this isnt golf, he was just getting bradys attention, if you are talking about what i think you are talking about there was absolutely no intent to injure him, just get his attention

james harrison was the player and i am surprised the refs let both ends of it happen

Try shopping at a mall at Christmas, you will get hit harder than that in the food court. Don't be a such a wuss.

The hit from behind at the end of the game on a punt return was much worse and should result in a fine.

I noticed that also. The problem was the "third man in." Brady was jawing with someone and Harrison came up behind Brady and banged with clear intent to jolt him.

Probably no refs were looking. I've seen flags thrown for lesser stuff.

It was stupid on Harrison's part. Never antagonize a powerful enemy without reason. Anyway, Mankins paid Harrison back with a couple if humiliating pancake blocks.

I read somewhere that they could have flagged Brady for taunting. I agree the could have, though I'm glad they just let let it go given the situation. That goes for Harrison too. There's always a lot of trash talk and bumping and shoving during a game, and that's all this was. Harrison was just coming in to back up his teammate and gave Brady a little bump from behind. No harm no foul. Good non call by the refs in my opinion.
