He will cost significantly more than Cassell because he has NFL starting experience. He sucks and I don't even want him in the same state as the Pats.

Is it possible? Yeah, it's possible he can get better. Is it probable? Sure...

... but are there better backup QB's? Definitly. Grossman, as of right now, is a very bad QB... why take a chance on someone so bad?! He won the super bowl for the other team!!

Carr is in the midst of his personal three strikes and your out program.

Both of these guys have proved to he consistent at only one thing - making mistakes. Belichick cannot tolerate guys who continue to make the same mistakes. That is why Brady remained the replacement when Bledsoe was all better...

Some here get so caught up on having a name at a position they ignore why that individual might be available. Tom wasn't groomed for the position by Charlie and Bill - he came to us as is. BB can't turn these guys around, nor does he have the time and inclination to. There are certain basic attributes a QB has to have to have a shot at functioning in this system, and Grossman and Carr don't have the most significant of them - the ability to consistently make good decisions quickly.

The Colts just signed their backup, the incomparable Jim Sorgi, to a three year extension. Now, some there justifiably question why a guy worth having would do that - why not want to be a starter elsewhere. But what the Colts FO understands is this is a guy who thoroughly grasps a system Peyton Manning runs (whether he or anyone could run it or not remains to be seen). And he continues to work hard and not cause discontent in a position where he may never see starting game action.

Belichick probably would have kept Huard here except he didn't really want to pay a premium for a backup at that time and he knew the backup wanted a shot to start. Carr and Grossman will always crave that shot no matter how many times they blow it. And no matter how much counsel and support they might be given, they will always revert to form under pressure. And make no mistake about it, the QB of this team faces pressure - it's partly his job to mitigate it rather than exacerbate it.

Don't get defensive because the majority of the posters here did not agree with your assumption. It's a matter of actually watching Grossman play and thinking he would not be a good fit here in New England. Hardly a matter of having balls.

He has always stunk, he is not that young, his decision making is horrendous, he isn't very phisically gifted and he would demand a huge amount of money for a backup. Is there any upside I'm missing here?
