Re: Mangini lied: Pats never gave permission for sideline taping

the NFL wants this to die so much....so I LOVE it when new things come up...

keep talking mangini

I wish this stuff came out sooner.

Does this mean that the NFL lied too?

Bob G

The NFL said it was legal for a team to tape from the endzone provided the home team grants permission. They never commented on the ramifications if such permission was not granted. It was not.

a.) A "Patriots source?" C'mon, that's shoddy journalism. I'll leave it at that.
b.) WHO CARES!?!?!?!?!?!? The Jets could put a camera inside the Patriots' huddle and they would still have a tough time against this Patriots team.;)

Of course Mangini lied.
Why would the Pats give permission to tape and then kick the cameraguy out?

This is all besides the point. This kind of videotaping is forbidden according to the rulebook, there is nothing that says it's somehow legal if teams give permission. More hypocrisy and double standards...

Let's see... the team I root for just lost a 1st rd pick, was singled out and smeared for a supposed "cheating" scandal. Now it turns out the Jets did the exact same thing for which the Pats were penalized. I care. If you don't care, move along.

Listen, you need to, as you say, move along. The Patriots, may or may not have cheated; regardless, they broke a rule, and were penalized. You sound like a woman fighting for custody, or child support. Enjoy the friggin' season, and the Patriots, for all intensive purposes, may have hedged their bet. You don't know, nor do I. LET IT GO. Leave it to the whiners. Are you a whiner?

SMEARED?? WHO THE F CARES!!! Tom Brady doesn't. Mike Vrabel doesn't. Bob Kraft doesn't. SO WHY DO YOU!?!?!?!?

wow, this is huge if true. Not the least bit surprising considering where Mangini comes from though.

Exactly the issue here. IF the permission was never granted... what would the NFL's position be then? I'm not surprised at all that Mangini lied about it. He's obviously trying to cover his ass. Hopefully the little rat drowns in his own lies and the Jets have to face at least a token penalty.

I didn't bother to read your post. I saw your name and knew it would be stupid.

A. Don't call it shoddy journalism until it is disproven.
B. Who Cares? Don't you want to see all the facts, as every media outlet in the U.S. clamored for it when it was the Patriots painted into a corner? You don't care now unless your telephone # is in the 212 area code.

The NFL. They take away first round picks for video indescretions.

The Patriots misunderstood the rules and were penalized. Black and white.

It's shoddy journalism because he doesn't name a source. He's not Peter Gammons. Name your source or don't print it.

As much as I'm past caring about anything camera-related, I do think this is interesting if it's true. The one thing I do find alarming is that all of you journalism critics would take "a Patriots source" for face value. Would you give the same trust to an anonymous "Jets source"?

202? Washington D.C.?

EXACTLY. This is why half the sports reporting world is a crock of crap.

Your reasoning to my response is shoddy, not the Bill Burt article.
