Snowy practice
Link|Comments (0) By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff December 13, 2007 12:14 PM
FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are holding their afternoon practice inside Gillette Stadium today and it is snowing as the team works out. Players are in sweatpants, light shoulder pads and helmets.

DL Mike Wright and OL Billy Yates were the players not present for the media-access portion of the practice, which included stretching, special teams work and one positional drill.

Players seemed to enjoy being out in the snow, as there was plenty of chatter on the field. New TE Stephen Spach probably caught the attention of teammates by wearing shorts.

QB Matt Cassel, WR Chad Jackson, OL Ryan O'Callaghan and LB Chad Brown wore black jerseys, as did practice squad players Ray Ventone (safety) and Tim Mixon (cornerback). That signifies they were named practice players of the week for their work leading up to the Steelers' game.

Wow, what a season! Even the practice conditions are PERFECT ;)

TE Stephen Spach, #82

Signed today as per Reiss (Globe site is down so no link yet). No word yet on whose spot was taken or whether it is PS (pls) or active....

Spach is the one who Reiss thinks has signed - makes sense as we only have Watson and Brady at TE right now. One injury and we're thin.

My guess is that PS TE Jason Rader will once again be shown the door.

It's good that we are playing in these conditions now then in the playoffs. If we have anything to correct by the playoffs, it'll be good to do so now.

With that being said, I doubt we put up 70 on the Jets.

I just walked outside and thought "I bet they are out practicing in this." Really shows they are not looking beyond Sunday.

nice to see that CJ is bitter and unhappy with his role on the team

Marshall Faulk will call out the Pats for their unfair use of practicing in the snow. The Dolphins, who the Pats play next week, cannot practice in the snow this week unless there's unlikely weather in South Florida.

Clearly, Faulk will point out, the Pats are being unfair to the Dolphins. Fellow Mensa member Emmitt Smith will attempt to express his agreement with Faulk.
