Willie McGinest pissed at the Pats?

I know this doesn't matter a whole lot, but I was surprised to read this:

Linebacker Willie McGinest left as a free agent for Cleveland before last season after 12 years with the Patriots. He declined a request to talk about them, using an expletive to describe his former club.

I remember him shoving another Patriot, I can't recall who, during the Denver playoff game they lost - his last with the team, but I thought that was just frustration. Did he leave on bad terms?

He had nice words to say about the pats earler in the year. The whole "using an expletive to describe his former team" seems a bit odd to me. Not giving the quote or context making it seem like he was talking bad about the Pats. For all we know he said something like "I'm on the Browns, we're fighting for a playoff spot and you want to talk about the f'ing patriots?"

That's what I would assume too. Also the realization that even though his team will likely make the playoffs, they are still rendered irrelevant by his former team.

I don't think so.

I think Willie knew his value was greater too Clevland, they needed a veteran leader to show them how to run Romeo's Defense, and they were hoping some of that patriots mystic would rub off on some of the younger players.

Big Wilie is a legend, and one of the all time great Patriots. The team cut him and didn't offer a contract, he was forced to go else where and has stuck up for his ex-team on almost every occasion.

He is being looked at as the veteran voice for a young team that is on the verge of making the playoffs for the first time in a very long time. I don't know the whole context of the quote but based on unsubstantiated speculation I would bet that he is just trying to make sure his team is focused for the final 3 weeks of the season.

IIRC, I believe we were said to be "in touch with his people" throughout the process so while we may not have formally offered a contract I think he knew he could have a job with us; however it would have been for far less than he got.

Sure does. Although I guess it would be difficult to express too much regret. Amusingly, Branch gets the point across better than Graham whose his comments don't really fit with players who seem to love being Patriots.

you've gotta be kidding me with this. Obviously Willie has BIG love for the Patriots. Obviously Willie is on the Browns. Obviously Willie wants to talk about the Browns and their upcoming game and playoff push, NOT the Pats so don't ask him about it.

ask Rodney Harrison what he thinks about the chances the Chargers have this year. I'm sure he will tell you to go **** yourself.

Willie shoved Izzo. I don't know the whys and wherefores.
I think Willie's pride was hurt a bit when the Pats passed on offering a contract 'knowing' that Romeo would pay top dollar for his services. Anyone who has watched Browns games this year knows that Willie is S. L. O. W.

That being said, he WAS positive regarding the Pats vs the Colts but could also harbor a little resentment towards the Pats org. Guys like Willie forget his year after year of injury missed games during which he was paid top dollar. BB rescued Willie from the Chris Slade scrap heap, not to say that Willie wasn't 10x the player Slade was.
