This poll is for the purpose of determining who among Patriots Nation think or believe that Maroney will rush for at least 100 yards each vs the worst run defenses in the NFL, the 3-10 NY Jets (#30), and the 0-13 Dolphins (#32).

Oh wow, another Maroney thread. Yippee!

This is only for the purpose of the poll. If the poll can be kept intact, it would be fine if this was merged into the main thread.

[Edit] So far the count is 5 No, and only 1 Yes. Hmm it's still early, but that would mean only 17% of Patriot Nation believe that Maroney can reach the 100 yard mark even against the #30 and #32 ranked NFL rushing defenses.

he won't do it because he won't need to

Where's the guy who posts the picture with the caption "Awwww not this sh** again"

Makes me giggle every time.

I voted yes. Not entirely sure why, I just felt like it. Maroney takes too much heat, but if you go carry for carry, you see a swarm of defenders waiting for him. I still think the OL's run blocking leaves a little to be desired, and that their great pass protection is giving them a free pass on the run game, leaving Maroney there to be criticized.

Why was Sammy Morris so effective then, if it's the OL's fault? If you really believe Maroney can reach 100, more power to you. We will see the results come Sunday. Keep the votes coming.

[Update] Vote now stands at 4 Yes, 9 No. That means only 30% of Patriot Nation believes that Maroney will get the job done vs NFL defenses #30 and #32 vs the run respectively.

Is that of importance?
What if he gets 75YDS with a 4.5YD AVG and we win,is that bad?
What if he gets 100YDS on 45 carries,is that good?

Sammy Morris was better at dealing with the OL's inconsistent/mediocre ability to create holes. There's no doubt about that - Morris, like Dillon, will get 2-3 yards out of nothing, and Maroney, to his fault, has not been able to do that extremely well so far.

But at the same time, if the OL was able to open up the kind of holes other teams with better run-blocking OLs are able to create, Maroney would probably put up insane numbers b/c in the open field, he's a monster.

Could he? Yes

Will there be any need? No.

Therefore, I'd say no.

Do I think Maroney can get 100 yards rushing in both games? Yes. But the question should be, will Belichick utilize the run against these teams or just continue to pass pass pass?

Only if the Entire Offensive line Pushes him from behind every time he touches the ball.

Can you imagine them going to a run oriented offense just as Brady and Moss are closing in on various records? Obyiously they will gameplan to win, whatever that may entail, but still...
That would be crazy.
But seriously though, if they were'nt close to records and stuff, I'd be inclined to vote yes.
Would'nt they want him "warmed up" for the post-season?
Having a guy be "fresh" this time of year is one thing, but he's played so little (or so it seams to me )that I wonder.
Does BB want a chance to further evaluate LM, or the running game in general?
I'd say the odds of him having 100 yds in one of the next 2 games are pretty good, no?

It's just ignorance to make these Maroney-bashers feel good about themselves.

This poll is so stupid it's unbelievable. The Maroney haters know it's unlikely we will run the ball enough to get ANY RB 100 yards, and they use this (which may or may NOT have to do with Maroney's abilities and the coaches' confidence in hIm), to somehow "prove" that Maroney is a terrible RB.

They don't want a discussion, they don't want facts, they pose questions skewed in their favor etc...

With the passing offense we have, I wouldn't be confident predicting LdT, Marion Barber, Adrian Peterson (well maybe not the guy is a freak) would get 100 yards rushing many games. That doesn't mean they couldn't!

pointless. unless he breaks a 70 yard run or something he prob wont get enough carries to reach 100

but that doesn't matter for the foolish haters who started the poll

for the thread starter, do you have the courage to change your poll question to
" would Maroney get 100 yards if he had enough carries?"

But at the same time, if the OL was able to open up the kind of holes other teams with better run-blocking OLs are able to create, Maroney would probably put up insane numbers b/c in the open field, he's a monster.

So it's all the OL's fault? Indeed, Maroney is a monster who has averaged 3.04 ypc over the last 5 games.

Good one! And I believe that was Maroney's only big gain of the game too, when he had to be pushed from behind by his own O-line.

Maroney will rush against the Jets and Phins. Once that's completed, he'll then pledge as a member of the NEPats Omega Chi RB fraternity. There will be hot dogs and beer served afterwards.
