Holley is sitting there trying to defend that scumbag Eric Mangini.
"IT GOT AWAY FROM HIM". Whatever Holley.
His agenda is crystal clear to me because it is well known that he is good friends with Mangini.
Whether it got away from him or not makes no difference to me. The man is still a backstabbing piece of garbage as far as I'm concerned. You just don't do things like that to a someone you call "A FRIEND".

Yeah, yeah...it's business, whatever. How come we didn't turn them in when they got caught with a camera at our stadium last year? How come?

I know I'll get flammed, but I dont think Holley is too far off. i think there is some truth to what he is saying. I dont think The rat thought it would get out of control like it did.

OK so what did he think would happen? The guy frickin coaches in New York City. He HAD to know how the media would react.

Spygate took on a life of its own. I highly doubt Eric wanted it to go this way since he also took a hit from the fallout.

Funny, his football team is also 'getting away from him'.

people like him get what they deserve eventually. it'll be fun to watch.

Don't fall for Holley's bull$hi#. The Jets intentionally manipulated the press to fan the flames of scandal and put maximum pressure on his mentor. IMO this was an attempt to force BB's termination or resignation. The grand plan, concocted in the offseason, was to force BB out as a way of elevating the Jets and bringing down the Pats. They failed. An additional note: has anyone else observed that all mention of BB's off the field scandal news has dried up since the so called "spygate"? I believe the Jets were behind the NYPost's incessant dirt digging on BB, and the NFL finally told them to quit it. Mangini sold out his mentor for cash and allowed himself to be used by the Jet organization to ruin the reputations of hundreds of honest people. He is the worst species of backstabbing rat on earth. Any pat fan who even contemplates pardoning him is an idiot.

In answer to the question posed in the threads title, no. I think Dale Arnold has THE worst voice in all of broadcasting. I don't know who told that guy he had a career in radio.

It will be interesting to see if when Gil Santos retires, Dale gets his job as Patriots play-by-play back.

Dale is a weeny, but I think the award for worst voice has to go to Eddie Andelman.

Good thing I don't listen to the radio broadcast then. They should get another ex-player. Ted Johnson maybe or Tippett, Grogan...There are plenty of other color guys you could get besides that squeaky-voiced goober.

good post. very true.
and holly is kissing butt, and making a fool of himself, and throwing away his credibility and respect, just because he's 'friends' with him and he allowed him insights, access, provliges to write his book. holly should know his bull spin isn't gonna fly and keep his defenses of the scumbag to himself, he's only alienating listeners and showing himself to be a 'favors' sellout.

this might be true, except that towards the end of that week, after it had already blown out of proportion, I seem to recall the Jets asking the NFL to look into some other matter -- like microphones or something; don't remember exactly what. Does anyone else remember what it was? To which the NFL came back with no evidence.
If they did feel spy-gate was overblown, they would've never asked for the second part. In fact, asking for the second part, with no evidence is clearly piling on and implies they didn't care that it got overblown (or that they were happy it did).

Does it really matter what The Rats intentions were?

I point a gun at you and the gun goes off. You are dead . Does it really matter if I intended to shoot you or the gun just went off? You are still dead.

That works, I'm changing my position :D

The Jets manipulating the press in New York?! Not in this lifetime or any other. The Jets have been notoriously inept at media manipulation. They can't carry the back page of the NY Post in their BEST of years. I think you're giving more credit than is deserved.

I'd agree that this was Jets-Patriots gamesmanship that spun WAY further than the Jets ever thought it would. From all that I've read, cameraman-catching was big sport for the last couple years, and Steve Scarnecchia being the Jets' video guy, there's not a doubt in my mind that the who-what-where-why-and-how of all video taping was no big secret.

I think he regrets it now.

Only because the net effect of the whole incident will be to ruin Mangina's career. He'll be lucky to be coaching high school ball in two years.

"It got away from him"? What an absolute load of crap. He put it out there. He knew whqat would happen next. This was very premeditated to take the pressure of their miserable showing in the actual game. The NY press was not talking about how lousy the team was after the Pats game, although they'd get around to it. Instead, they were talking about BB and the Pats being cheaters.
Spygate was nothing more than a big smoke screen to hide how terribly the Jets are.
Mangini is a scum bag with no class and is being exposed for what he is, which is a coach who is in way over his head. Even his players have figured that out.
Holly is a sad and tragic figure.
