the jets are 11th against the pass and 30th against the run. throughout his career in college, maroney has always needed ten carries to warm up. Im thinking we get to see maroney nice and warm on sunday, put some additional fear into our playoff opponents

I think we'll run the ball...just to chew the clock to keep it under 100 points :rolleyes:

I would love to see this. I'd like more of a running game, but believe the Pats have chosen the passing game because it is so dam effective. That all-pass drive from the 1 chewed up 6.5 minutes and got a FG.

Brady needs 5 touchdowns.... Moss needs 4, I believe..... and Brady is still 1,000 yards short of the total passing yards record with 3 games to play. Don't count on too many running plays. My guess is that this team is gunning for all 3 of those records, and since they get so few possessions (fewest in the league), they'll need to make them count.

I think that they REALLY want to set the TD records for both Brady and Moss in this game, as a huge GFY to Mangina

Three theories out there:

1) Maroney stinks, and Belichick is cowed into/feels shrewd by saying he loves maroney (but just can't stand the idea of actually using him);

2) Belichick is saving the ground game for when it's really needed. The mad scientist might have something special to unveil, or it's just a nothing-special running game nobody knows we have... but nobody gets to see it til it's really cold and we really need it;

3) Maybe you've just seen us play the Steelers and the Ravens, two teams with better run defenses than pass defenses.

I think it's 2) or 3). But I see the Maroney-bashers are at it again elsewhere on the board.

The Jets should answer (3) on Sunday. (2) might be a matter of whether we need it yet.

I don't think we're down to (1) as the only explanation.
