They dont run much because THEY DONT HAVE TO.

look at their yards per run. its pretty good. its not like the Marion Butts team of 1994 when they got 2.9 a carry. If that was the case id be worried.

this team is built to pass to set up the run. Think the 49ers. Maroney is Rickey Watters.

Its bad enough the national media is saying this idiocy, we dont have to fuel it.

I don't really know if they can, but they sure as hell don't want to. And rightfully so.

Why? We have to ignore the fact Maroney is not living up to the hype? I think Faulk does a great job. To bad he is not more durable.

If it snows in the playoffs we have to run that ball. If we do it could be our weakness.

This is such a common misconception...how exactly does snow affect the passing game? You do know that snow and wind are two different climatic phenomenoms, right?

If anything it makes it harder for DBs to make adjustments when the pass is in the air since they have to rely on instincts as they don't know where the ball will be thrown. And that's when one slip may be fatal.

I also want to see a situation where the Patriots commit to the running game and don't get it done before I start panicking and worrying about our future in the playoffs.

Did anyone notice we won two SB's with Antowan Smith as the premier running back?

what i saw was the entire OLine of the Pats help push him 7 yards...is that what you meant. I could really care less if they can run...a 5 yard slant or curl is as good as a dive up the gut. Yards is yards is yards and i dont care how they get them. We dont need to hid anything. The Steelers knew we were going to throw the ball and they could do nothing to stop us. I dont know how, but they fell for the play action pass at least twice that i saw...how do you fall for a play action pass when we only ran the ball something like 8 times the whole game. I thought that was funny.

Yes,can there be a stop to all theses "we can't run" threads or the ever popular "Maroney is a bust thread". There are more important topics to be discussed like "will Tom Brady make the HOF". Now thats up for debate. But seriously enough of the we can't run. If BB thought it important we'd do it.

The Patriots (as I've said a number of times) have been very predictable with their rushing attack. Usually when Maroney's been in the game it's going to him, and about 80% of the time NE's had Maroney on the field with two TE's they've run the ball. So, the Steelers biting on the play fake when NE brought Maroney in was completely understandable, as it only proves what I've been saying about the predictability of their run game.

It's nice to see them start using play fakes more in those situations, and it's also been nice to see Maroney start getting on the field, even when they don't intend to run the ball. Maroney's improved pass pro should help keep this trend going.

Really, over the past two weeks McDaniels has done some of the things I'd been asking for (throwing to Maroney, and bringing him into the game even when they aren't going to use him).

Now the only thing I'd like to see happen in one game before the end of the season is for Maroney to get about 20 touches in a game (rushing and receiving). The jets and Dolphins seem like good teams for NE to work on their running game, so I wouldn't be surprised if they run the ball a little more the next few weeks. Obviously they'll continue to pass the rock, but I don't think they'll go completely pass happy either.
