Since we're usually quick to point out when a columnist or announcer doesn't seem to respect the Pats, or appears to dislike/hate them, I have to say it was so noticeable listening to the broadcast yesterday how much these guys like the Pats--the team, the players, the way they do things. Consistent praise, and disdain for those who criticize them.

There was one point in particular in the second half when the Steelers were jawing at the Pats (again) and Simms basically said they should shut up, with Nance backing him up, saying all the yapping was "nonsense." Sort of nice to hear--I'm sure Steelers' fans were bristling at it.

That's just typical ball-washing. What's really funny is when they come out revering one team...then as the team starts faltering they talk up the opposing team. Kind of like the tides shifting.

Nantz was openly rooting for the COlts in the AFCCG last season.

Simms has always liked Belichick, having been on the Giants together. In Patriot Reign, Michael Holly said that Simms' is the only crew that Belichick enjoys working with.

Nantz wears Colt underoos...

Keyshawn has been very complimentary of the Pats as well.

I don't pay too much homage to the praise thing. Sometimes it's real, but since everybody has favorites, and there are 32 teams, who expects that everybody should like the Patriots?

They are one more team, and now the object of disaffection. Everybody wants to knock us off. All of the underdog sentiment is with each of our opponents.

So what I expect is grudging admiration only.

But Simms was a QB and I think in that fraternity you will find that they ALL are rooting for Brady because he reminds them of themselves and what they lived for. They understand what he's doing.

If memory serves, when Keyshawn was with the Cowboys, he was asked what QB he would most like to play with. He said "Brady".

What is compelling is that at the time he was playing with Bledsoe. I wonder if Drew ever held that against him.

Nantz has been a major Patriot hater for years. Big time.

So I guess it is pretty strange to hear him say even one single thing good about the Pats.

Maybe now that we are scoring more points than the Dolts, Nantz has just dropped his multi-year loyalties to the Dolts and turned around to kiss our ass.

I'll take it. Why not. :D

Nantz is already on record as predicting a Colts victory over the Pats in January and a repeat Super Bowl victory. His reasoning made no sense (apparently Marvin is skipping the HOF and going directly to sainthood) and really gave an insight into his Colts' bias.

This is a recent phenomenon. Nance has had a noticeable bias against the Pats
for a long time. Simms not so. He just ball washes everyone that is winning &
rarely says anything derogatory against the losing team. I hate CBS when it
has our games. It seems like it is the most commercial driven broadcast out
there. Most games they broadcast it seems there is at least two to three
times during the games where actual playing time is blown off in order to sell
some more crap.

Simms does, but Nantz bugs the Hell out of me, he was spit shining Pey Me A Ton's knob so much during the Indy game I had to turn the volume down.

As soon as I gather up enough energy to go reload my prepaid credit card I'm getting field pass.
