after the ravens game ..as per reiss on NFL gameday..
also this week and last 2 weeks he has been quieter in the locker room and reading his bible a lot these last few weeks..

FWIW

I hope he shuts up the so-called Pats fans who have been stabbing him in the back. Go Maroney.

The Maroney bashers won't believe this.

I applaud Laurence for trying to get better and keeping his spirits high.

It's not like anyone should be surprised. Who else were they going to give it to, Gostkowski?

i guess you missed those posts which said we hardly ran the ball against the ravens and those mcfadden threads.

I'm not surprised he got a game ball. He made two big plays in the passing game that were huge.
I gave him a pass for that game because of those other contributions.

He is still doubtful when it comes to running the football.
Maroney has averaged around 3.2 ypc over the last 3 games on the ground.

Good thing Maroney doesn't frequent these boards.

He made two nice catches...because... he was wide open...because...defenses don't take his game seriously.

NO WAY... The kid is in BB's doghouse. There's no way he got a game ball.

I mean he only got POSITIVE yardage on EVERY running play they gave him the ball. 8 of 13 got the Pats 4 or more yards. That's not good..

[/sarcasm]

Yeah.. he averaged 3.2 over the last 3 games against 2 defense that were top 10 against the run and in one game where they took him out because they were up 35-7..

But, lets just look at everything in the most absolutely negative way possible.

This is wrong. Watch the first catch and you will see that Maroney was covered well before he got open and made the catch. And you still have to run after the catch.

ravens D gives up avg of less than 3 i think we ran more effectively than expected. We didnt have any -ve running plays in the ravens game. i think the fact that he doesnt run those big 10 yard runs this yr ..his 3-4 yards are looked up as disappointment.

And this right here is proof that even if Maroney does anything well, people will still bash him.

Bingo, we've got bingo.

It's stupid to talk about stabbing people in the back. How long have you been a fan, and you think criticising a player's game is back-stabbing? I think you have strange expectations of fans that don't match reality.

Laurence is lacking something in his game. It is hard to recognize or identify because it's something that isn't there. If you want to know what I think this "it" factor is just watch Marion Barber or Brian Westbrook or Steven Jackson run. None of those guys is the Mike Alstott or Bus Bettis type, but they put their shoulders down and punish people. They don't get taken OUT of the game in the red zone, they get put IN to the game.

How obvious can it be? You put Marion Barber into the game in the red zone and you take Laurence out in the red zone. Are you kidding me - you can't see the difference? You can't see the concern about a first round pick that gets taken OUT in favor of a blocking back named Heath?

I know.. Its one of the things I've attempted to point out to the Maroney bashers, but to no avail.

You are the one lacking something, as a fan. You should shut up and stop embarrassing yourself.

I hope there's some passages in there about hitting the hole and lowering your shoulders.

Irrationally trashing a guy and purposely taking things out of context is NOT criticizing him. Its being an arse. Plain and simple.

What Maroney is "lacking" is experience and an O-line that is proficient in the zone blocking schemed.

Marion Barber is a POWER Running back. That is NOT what Maroney is. That is why Barber is in during the game in the Red Zone.

The Patriots PASS the ball more in the Red Zone than they run it.

No, I can't see the irrational concern about a 22 year old RB who has less experience than other players being an issue.

OH, and Evans has a whopping 24 Red Zone Carries. Maroney has 18. Evans has 3 more games played than Maroney. YOU do the math.
