.... in two words ... BIG BEN!

This is a pressure game ... how does Big Ben perform in such games?

Divisional Playoff? AFC game? Super Bowl?
It seems his completion percentage drops into the
mid 50 percentile.
With all the hype this week I think he is feeling the pressure.
Won't be long now. We'll see.

Same Big Ben who threw all over colts in div round few years ago? I guess anything to convince yourself this would be a blowout in favor of patsies but we will see...

Are you talking about the one where he made 14 completions for the game!
14 out of 24 ... that one????

14 completions wont get it done today. I expect he'll have more. But Ben Roethlisberger is not the same efficient QB when he has to drop back all day and throw. The #s bear that out. If the Steelers cant run the ball consistently today and set up the play action pass, they have no shot.

I think Big Ben has developed into a good top 10 QB in the NFL.

Having said that, the Patriots will win because Pitt has not played any team close to the Patriots. Look at their schedule, their big win was Seattle (8-4) and they played the Seahawks at Pitt.

Well if the Patriots defense can finally get pressure on the QB, they will eat up Big Ben.

However they let the likes of AJ Feeley and Kyle Boller torch their D and look like pro bowlers in the last 2 weeks. I hope the defense can step it up with a strong effort against Pitt.

Wasn't it not too long ago when one of the predominant themes on this board was: "Peyton Manning - he does commercials; Tom Brady - he just wins"?

Do we discount that Ben Roethlisberger wins games? If so, I'd lean on his stats this year - not earth shaking, but they suggest efficiency.

I'd say that this game for the Patriots will be all about pressure. Roethlisberger has been sacked more than anyone but Jon Kitna, and he will throw picks. You're right that the guy can be rattled into stupid throws, but his stats this year seem to suggest that he's more willing to eat the football than throw a sketchy pass.

14 completions will be plenty if Willie Parker has a good game.

good post...I think Ben is a slightly above average QB at best who can and should make HUGE mistakes if pressured properly. You have to remember....Pitt lost to the Jests and very well could have lost to the doofins........The game plan first and foremost has to be to contain Parker......and then close second put as much pressure on Rottenburger as you can........that should open up opportunities for INT's in the secondary.......GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!

Bens stats are favorably comparable to Brady's stats in his fourth year starting, that is to say a year Brady won a super bowl in:

4th Season__BEN R____Brady
*Situation___QBRat____QBRat
*Total:______102.9____86.5
*1st Quarter__91.9 ____79.4
*2nd Quarter__97.9____109.7
*3rd Quarter__123.6____74.7
*4th Quarter__106.9____75.1
*3rd down____108.7___ 70.4
When Behind____106.6___ 73.7

Also if you compare starts of careers to the best QB's of our Time:

So, other than the standard Media Bias that Brady himself suffered from at that point in his career, or the 7 games last year when he lost 30 lbs of muscle from having his mouth wired shut for a month during training camp and couldnt make the plays he did at full strength, do you have any facts to say that Ben hasnt been spectacular thus far and isnt a top QB
