Ok I know we have a damn good stable of running backs right now (especially when Morris is healthy) but if Slaton slipped to the 3rd-4th round, which is a possibility given his disappointing year this year - do you think the pats would be tempted to grab him as the next kevin faulk? I think he'd complement maroney and morris pretty well.

I know this has not been his best year, but there is no way Slaton drops past the 2nd round. Then again, what do I know? I have Slaton as the 2nd best RB in the draft behind McFadden, as he is more than an RB.

I think slaton has a lot of talent too - thats why I hope he falls - i feel like he could when you combine the fact that he's had an off year and he isn't the playing weight of a typical nfl rb - there will probably be questions of how much wear and tear he can handle at the nfl level, and maybe that will make teams think twice about investing a high pick on him.

I don't look at the weight as being anything much as how big is the guy's heart, and is the guy a football player. Sure he is 5'10 190, but weight wise, gaining 10-20 pounds in the NFL is nothing these days. Plus, he can be utilized as a WR as well. He has great hands for an RB.

i agree on all counts.

i still think he's going to fall a little more than expected on draft day - people will probably think of him as a slightly less talented reggie bush coming out of college (i'm not saying thats a fair comparison) but bush is probably his best comparison in recent years - and bush has disappointed so far at the NFL level.) IF that happens, and slaton falls to the bottom of round 2, or early round 3, with our oakland pick, then i really hope we grab him.

I feel Slaton is better than Bush. To me, Reggie Bush is overrated, and he was helped by the fact he played on some real strong USC teams. Slaton plays for whom? I know Pat White is getting some pub, but Slaton is the guy that keeps it going. If Slaton played on a team like Bush had at USC, then he'd be looked at being the first RB off the board.

While I agree that Bush was overrated, I think Slaton has been in a great system for maximizing his talents - almost all the Mountaineers do is run the ball, and for his first two years Slaton looked fantastic in the offense - I think that this year, his production definitely dropped off, and White and the freshman Noel Devine stole some of his carries. Because of that, and NOT because of a lack of talent, i think it'll drop him some.
