A Patsfans.com pet peeve of mine: I don't know whether it's sheer laziness or people trying to pique others' curiosity into checking out borderline subject matter, but folks, PLEASE try to be more descriptive in your thread titles! It will help make this a better forum. I think we can do better than some of the recent thread titles including:

Are you kidding me?

So how does it feel?

Am I seeing things?

Mike Golic

Scott Pioli

Now you want people to type complete thoughts, must be part of the dinosaur culture of yesteryear. You know, when people talked used land lines and actually were able to write complete sentences.:D

It seems to boil down to people saving time and effort so others will waste theirs checking out what they have to say (or not say, as the case may be). I'm waiting for the thread title, "The ... "

It's the rush from seeing the # of "looks" on a thread go up and up.

I don't know what the big freaking deal is with the titles..You can slide over the title and a little yellow box shows up to show what the person is talking about BEFORE you decide to go into the post.

So chill out and do that instead - No one is going to adhere to your complaint anyway no matter how valid your gripe is,I am sure

You should have titled this:

"Breaking News..."

:D

How about a thread with a link, and no comment. WTF? If it was worthy enough for you to post, don't you think you should indulge us with your impressions?

and then there will be 4 or 5 comments after the "just link" post that say "Interesting" or "good article" or "thats stupid". WTF, indeed.

It's all part of the "Look at me! LOOK AT MEE!!!" culture where folks also start their own thread on a much discussed topic just to give their own variant or opinion more prominence. Some of the best posters here have relatively low post counts. Fortunately, the worst offender in this regard was banned.

Hear hear! I wholeheartedly second this post. Putting a brief description of the thread in its title is just courteous to other readers.

They are just copying the news/sports media. It's part of the "hook them 101" class.

Not me - I usually ignore such posts and I don't think I'm alone.

Since I miss any such thread topics that don't describe what's in there I'll start my own that actually describe what the topic is and they usually get many more looks and responses.

It is my observation that in this technological age interpersonal skills diminish in direct per portion to the amount of data that can be crammed on to a chip, thus every 18 months they diminish by half.

But i do have a bigger gripe then this one, have any of you tried to read an E-Mail from a grandchild whose entire communication skills set has been developed while text messaging?

Yes, please stop with worthless titles.

And yes, I hover over useless titles to see a preview. Too often the first line is either the same as the useless title or a useless introduction.

Agreed.

Also, it causes duplicate topics to be made. Then for some reason people yell at posters for not knowing that say "Troy Brown Activated" news was posted in "Are you serious!".

"Troy Brown Activated" wouldn't have showed up in the search function, thus the user wouldn't have known.
