With the Randy moss, Tom Brady, patriots undfeated, spy gate. Scott pioli is busy in the back brewing up a potion for draft day. Man do you think he loves his job right now or what?

Him and BB really have a chance to impact the draft board and the rest of the NFL.

I hope he has some new ingredients for that potion this year compared to the last two.

not to mention the 49ers 1st rounder this year

Pioli has not had steller drafts the last two years. That said I am confident he will return to his old form this year.

I believe Pioli thought last draft was very weak. If you think a draft is weak, you trade pics for veterans or future picks.

i seriosly dont understand people saying this. its far too early to tell, even with the 2006 draft.

maroney, jackson and thomas all showed signs of class. its too early to write them off.

as for 2007, i think it was a great draft. obviosly its disappointing that so many rookies didnt make the team, but when you look at what we got, i think it was impressive.

I would like to see Pioli trade a low round pick (Oakland's 3) for Jason Taylor. Immediate help from a top athlete who will give us 4-5 years. Miami is not going to compete with us for awhile, so they really shouldn't care about the division thing. The question, will someone else give them a higher pick?

The Pats do not need anymore defenders over the age of thirty. It's time for some youth.

Look for the Pats to take McFadden if Laurenitis does not enter the draft.

I highly doubt they take McFadden (or any RB) that high; there is very little value in paying a running back so much money. They'll "reach" some and pick a player who they feel is the best value for their team (and it wouldn't surprise me if it was a lineman, offensive or defensive).

I think some of the criticism of the draft is unwarranted due to the very high (higher than most teams) requirements to just make the 53 because we have so few open spots... the high number of our low picks who ended up on other rosters this year is a good indication. And we have historically had a much higher percentage of good #1 picks than most teams, so any #1 which doesn't immediately start is viewed as a failure. Most teams would envy our draft record. I don't see why that would suddenly change.

What would make you say this? BB would never draft a rb that high , not to mention he has never taken a lb high in any draft.

The only way we take a lb in the first round is if we trade down. But we wont take one so it's a moot point really.

If the pats do pick high , they will go for a O or D linemen.

I love it people say, "Bill Belicheck would never do that". Do you know him personally? I didn't think so. All I'm saying is that whether or not the Pats trade down, they will take the best available player. If the Pats believe that McFadden is a can't miss prospect, why woudn't they take him? Paying two running backs wouldn't be an issue because Maroney is only making 9 million over 5 years. I actually hope they trade down and acquire more picks in the second/third round and grab Laurenitis and Gholston. They desperately need team speed on defense.

I am going to go out on limb here and say there is 100 percent no way BB drafts MCfadden if we are picking at the two spot.

Wrong. You blend the vets with the youths. It is probably a main reason why your seeing vets at linebackers vs drafting them. If we traded for Jason Taylor he would probably retire around the same time Brady would be past his prime. That is, unless he pulls a Farve. This team will always have a number of vets incorporated into the base. Taylor is a perfect fit, just depends on cost.
