Does anyone think that Anthony's comments will motivate the Pats to play even better than they would have if he had never made the guarantee?

Maybe not-but he HAS put his team in a lose/lose situation.

They KNOW they HAVE to win this game, or else they'll look like fools for many weeks to come.

Look for them to play pretty tight(and not loose) this week.

You should have include an "I don't know" selection. Whether it does help or not, we'll never know anyway...kinda tough to measure the effects of such things...know what I sayn?;)

Just watch the Patriots' reaction. They couldn't care less. That Globe writer is correct, Belichek has them mesmerized into focusing only on the Xs and the Os.

Now, what Smith DID say that's gotten lost in all this bull**** is that Cincinnati's receiving corps is better than New England's. That's bound to piss some people off on New England's offense.

Not to mention it isn't true. Cincinnati's WR corps is only the best that SMITH has played against. There are only two reasons why I think Pittsburgh could lose to New England, and one of them is our dog**** secondary.

That's why this #1 offense versus #1 defense hype is crap: New England's quick-strike offense is light years better than our pass D, and while our run D is better than New England's run O, New England hardly ever runs the ball, so who gives a ****.

I think the worst thing that it can do is alienate him from his teammate because they may feel that the Patriots were motivated by the comments or make him into more of a team leader if they win.

What it does is give an opponent a little something to draw on when they need to dig deep in practice or during the game. It's a really stupid thing to do, which is why is isn't done here...

Yeah, Smith is kinda stupid. Great hitter, though. Wish he knew where the football was more often.

I think that Dr. Z's comments about this team being old and tired will have a greater effect...

Not exactly, Pats will use all the crap that's been said from all sources during the week to motivate themselves.
