Five reasons: 1. A.J. Feeley and Kyle Boller have put up 52 points on the Patriots the last two weeks; Ben Roethlisberger won't make the kind of late-game mistakes those two backups did. 2. Brian Westbrook and Willis McGahee have rushed for 190 yards on the Pats the last two weeks. I'm not in love with Willie Parker's recent rushing numbers -- 52, 81 and 87 yards, against three straight sub-.500 teams -- but I think the Patriots will be vulnerable against a power running game. 3. Pats are tired after three straight night games, including the emotional Monday-nighter in frigid Baltimore. Bill Belichick didn't even practice them Wednesday, an incredible rarity with a Sunday game upcoming. 4. Hines Ward's will to win. The dude leads the league in it. 5. Just a gut feeling. The strain of going for perfection seems to be wearing on New England, while Pittsburgh is just bullyish enough not to fear the enormity of Sunday's stage.

Can somebody explain "Hines Ward's will to win. The dude leads the league in it". So according to King, there a new category to rate players.

Wouldn't be great if we all get paid for our will to work!!!

*cough* 27 game-winning fourth-quarter drives *cough*

It's all coming together, huh? Steelers players guaranteeing a win, experts picking against the Pats... Can you imagine a better scenario?

I would say Tom Brady leads the NFL in "will to win", and he'll have more say over the outcome than Hines Ward.

How King can give Ward the "heart" nod over Brady baffles me.

So I guess Ward's will to win was absent at Denver, Arizona, and at the Jets? Peter King is a tool and has been for years.

There's valid reasons to worry but point #4 is just stupid unless Brady, Harrison, Bruschi, et al, have lost their will to win; because no-one wants to win as much as they do. Sigh.

Yes this is what has been missing for the last two games, so I'll use that as my #37 reason the Pats will beat the Steelers.

That's silly. You are probably measuring the will to win by looking at numbers like 4th quarter comebacks and stuff like that. A better measuring stick is to look at what players do after a loss. Do they cry and throw a hissy fit? Hines ward cries like a little girl after a loss (followed closely by Bart Scott) so his will to win must be great! :)

The weird thing is, up to that last point I didn't necessarily agree with him, but I thought he was raising very valid points. Then he busted out the whole will to win bull****, and his credibility went back down into the toilet.

The Steelers have lost 3 times with Ward’s superior will to win. How have the Patriots managed to go undefeated with Brady’s lackluster will to win?

Ward may have a will to win, but Brady has a wont to win. Given the choice, I'll take the latter.

Funny...Peter didn't mention how exceedingly mortal that Steelers team has looked on the road this year.

BTW, where are they playing this week?

That wasn't his last point, his last point was "just a gut feel", which in retrospect, should have been his first point. It is an ample gut afterall (although less ample these days).

1. Kyle Boller and A.J. Feeley also had really excellent line play, the Steelers have not all season long. Bergerdick has also thrown eleven picks and fumbled the ball 8 times. Compare that to five and four for the man in red, white, and blue.

2. McGahee had a big game, but Westbrook ran 17 times for a whopping :)rolleyes: ) 52 yards (or approximately three yards per carry). Yes, they combined for 190 yards rushing against the Patriots (or 85 yards apiece, which is not a big deal), but certainly this argument proves credence to the old adage "stats can be misleading."

And you feel the Patriots are vulnerable to a power running game? Please tell me what power running game they'll be playing this weekend, because Willie Parker is not a power runner.

3. Okay, so they're tired. They had an extra day to rest. "Being tired" should not be an issue. Do you question whether Bill Belichick will have the team prepared for the game? I don't. So just what the hell are you getting at here, Mr. King?

4. 'Cause, yeah, "will to win" definitely translates to a win.

5. You can't argue with something as infallible as a gut feeling.

I have a REALLY, REALY huge will to win the lottery. I lead my neighborhood in it.

perhaps it is Giselle's will to win that is carrying the patriots? I bet she watches the games now. Maybe it's all about the supermodel.

Here's whats going to happen: The Pats win big and Fat Peter denies he ever picked Pitt (similar to his flat out lie regarding Dallas' Wade Philips)

If the Steelers come out thinking "hey just play loose we're not afraid of these guys, we're going to kill them" it's going to be Week 2 vs. the Chargers all over again.

This is the Steelers' fatal flaw. They don't mentally prepare for games very well. Just be about business and understand you're an underdog for a reason.

King hates the Pats, and more specifically, Belichick, that's how!
