My ultimate wish is that the Patriots have held back on the run game due to their shorage of RB's and will unveil a punishing ground game in the first quarter...only to open up the pass.

Man, that would be nice to watch!

Three weeks ago, the Steelers were called overrated for losing to the Jets.

Two weeks ago, the Steelers scored 3 points against the Dolphins.

Last week, they beat the Bengals despite giving them several opportunities to score.

What are these people missing? Sure, the Pats have looked vulnerable over the past two weeks, but the Steelers haven't been playing amazing football.

As we've seen in the Patriots previous two games, head-to-head matchups have little to do with previous performances. Teams are getting up for the Pats compared to other opponents and playing their best games of the season.

I just thought of this one. The other day I was telling a Seelers fan who wanted an outside opinion of Ben Roth...... I told him I thought at first he was way over rated, but this year hes gotten better. But has he gotten better in BIG games. The last BIG game I saw him in he had a melt down,( SB 40 QB rating of 43?)and has melted down in every Big game I can recall. He starts making bad decisions that lead to picks.

Basically they're strategy is the same as the Eagles and Ravens: break the rules and hope you don't get caught.

all I know is, we were using this method effectively to beat the colts,
and being the babies that we all know they are,
they had the rules changed so they could have a chance.

fine, so now we get called if we have contact past 5 yards.
no calling it ticky tactif it's called - it's a point of emphasis.
and it's called when we touch wayne or harrison past 5 yards cuz of polian.
so we go out and get great receivers and start dominating that way,
and now suddenly people think they've 'discovered' a new way to stop high-powered offenses?
If they are doing past 5 yards they better get called. and if not, then when we do the same to the colts, it also better not be called.
otherwise, your basically using two sets of rules and cheating to stop the patriots from winning.
I'm thinking BB will have a good game plan, and the steelers won't be able to stop us completely, and we'll go out and beat them.
I'd like to see some early calls for illegal contact just to set boundaries with their 'scheme'.

If I were the Steelers, I would run the ball at AD all day. Either the guy is severely injured or he just sucks, but AD has no legs what so ever and moves like a guy who has knee issues.

Doesn't sound like much of a game plan. Why don't you bounce it off Belichick and see what he thinks?

The last two weeks the teams we faced have played beyond their presumed capabilities. Perhaps it's because the line is so distorted or perhaps it's because they want to be the "one".

The Steelers have the pieces to give us a game, even if they're not insanely inspired. That is not to say that they are the best team we've faced or that they don't have their own weaknesses. I like Brady's chances against their secondary and if the D pressures Roethlisberger (ala Jets) they can make the Steelers one dimensional and that should be adequate to secure a comfortable victory. Thus far the Steelers have the weakest schedule (32nd) whereas the Patriots are in the middle of the pack (16th).

(IMO) To win: run up the score early (try catching the ball fellas) and force the Steelers to play catch up so they can't keep handing the ball to Parker.

Or break the rules continually on the theory that they can't call them all. That seemed to work for the Ravings--at least until the last 5+ minutes of the game.

People can talk all they want about how Moss has been slowed down. However last week he had one TD, had another right in his hands that he dropped (nothing to do with the defense) and on another play had a DB beaten by two steps but the throw, probably due to the wind, didn't get there. The Ravens' defense didn't stop him, it was just a combination of wind and him and the QB not being perfect as they had been - executing the way we were a few weeks ago and Moss has 3 TDs and 120+ yards.

I realize we may not execute perfectly this week but my point is that it wasn't the defense that stopped Moss last week.

The Steeler have been playing inconsistent this year. As are the Ravens and Eagles.

Pitt is a good team and although some teams are intimidated by the Pats and just fold like a lawn chair (Bills) others bring their A game. I suspect that Pitt will bring their A game.

I expect this game to go four quarters.

They have played consistently well against all opponents at home, and against division opponents both home and away but they have played consistently poorly and lost games to lowly teams against non-division opponents on the road. I don't see this pattern changing this week.

Exactly. Somebody on EEI this morning called it the Detroit Piston (v Jordan and the Bulls) strategy. Seems about right to me. Of course, in the end, talent wins over bush league play.

Right, it has little to do with defenses shutting down Moss and more to do with a little loss of sharpness (coupled with last week's wind). I haven't seen anything to suggest Moss isn't getting open downfield.

Pats are not a "lowly" team, the Steelers are not going to look past the Pats the way they did the lphins or Jets.

I'd be too concerned that Maroney would end up hurt and Faulk would find a way to keep dropping the ball

That was the plan against the Ravens and it would have worked if Watson would have held onto the ball.
