We have come full circle.
This years media circus has been unbelievable. The hatred and jealousy of the Patriots I believe is way beyond anything any other major sports team has had to suffer including the Yankees and the Cowboys of the 90's.
To start the year the Patriots are called cheaters and the integrity of the 3 Superbowls is questioned despite the severity of what happened being equivalent of driving over the speed limit. The media figures the Patriots were just a product of cheating.
Then the Patriots blow everybody out proving that they are the best team in the league and that the video gate thing is completely insignificant. So after it is basically universally accepted that the Patriots are the best team in the league, now the Patriots are called classless for winning by too much and running up the score.
Now, because the Patriots are not winning by enough and don't have enough style points despite out playing teams in the 4th Quarter, having played 3 Prime Time games in a row, and everyone gunning for them, they are "over the hill" and old (what old teams play at their best in the 4th quarter ?), and the undefeated string is only kept alive because now the NFL is cheating by making up phantom penalties to help the Patriots win and will screw anybody who plays against them.
I guess Belichick needs to come up with game plans where the Patriots win by exactly 13 points for the rest of the season. 13 points is a solid win that will not offend anybody as running up the score, yet is strong enough to be considered a dominant performance.
My personal hope is that the Patriot ramp up their FU campain to the NFL, press and anyone else who wants to chime in with something negative to say.
