Ray Lewis defense of Watson?

Just saw this on nfl replay. The pass to watson in the EZ in the first drive.
Lewis never turned his head to play that pass.
Or was it because the ball was close to already there?

Lewis played pretty good D on that ball. No, he never looked. However, you can tell a lot about where the ball is from the body language from the receiver. The #1 rule when playing pass defense is to "take down an arm" which is pretty much what he did. That kind of smart play is what you expect from a super bowl MVP caliber player.

Compare this with the Ed Reed play, where he never turned for the football AND made contact with Moss before the ball arrived. Obviously, that should've been a penalty. But now Moss is the Shaq of the NFL, so people are allowed to manhandle him.

I just thought that when the ball left brady's hand, Lews beelined toward Watson without ever playing the ball and got there in time to wrestle it out of Watsons hands.
It WAS an impressive play if it's not a penalty.
Anyways, it doesn't appear that anyone else took much umbrage so,
I guess I won't.

Well, as long as Ray Ray didn't make contact before Watson touched the ball, it's a clean play. I don't think he did, so it's a good play on his part IMO.

That's what I thought. I've seen it twice now. Great play by him. I didn't know he was so good in coverage.

Not a huge Ray Lewis fan, but his presence was felt on Monday nite.. despite his age he is still very good.

I am not a Ray Lewis fan, but he made a great play on that ball.

It reminded me of the play Mike Singletary made on Stanley Morgan in SB XX. I thought, "Uh, oh, they came to play and it's their night." Stuff like that only happens when it's completely your night. I think that most people don't know that the Ravens played over their heads that night, brought their best game of the year, and still lost.

into an emotional victory for the Ravens. What justification does he have that the Ravens have to win for Sean Taylor.
The only team with that justification was Washington and they lost, too.

That's funny. How come I heard one of the Ravens player say that
the refs took away the win from Sean.
Ok Ray didn't say WIN for Sean he said play for Sean.
The implication was there. Not 2 entirely different things.

I said that exact same thing when the play happened while the friends I was watching the game with were crying PI. Then they saw the replay and it was pretty clear that Ray Ray just made a helluva play there.

You can't blame the other team for playing defense.

That is one strange play. Reed, clearly beaten and only watching #84, has the ball skid off his back toward Watson before it falls incomplete. Only bad luck prevented that play from being a big reception.

It looked to me like the ball placement was a little off. It needed to be a little higher and deeper so that Ben could bend backwards and catch it.
