they are so possesed with the patriots they have given them their own category on the bottom line

Re: ESPN news bottomline

Haha, that's actually awesome. :rocker:

ESPN Scroll

Just thought it was funny...

I'm watching NFL Live and the ESPN scroll on the bottom has the regular categories of AFC, NFC, NFL etc ...then they have one for PATRIOTS, it lists all the accomplishments.

This probably didn't deserve it's own thread I just found it funny that the Pats now have their own category.

Re: ESPN news bottomline

Just another example of ESPN disrespecting the Patriots again. The Patriots should have their own ESPN channel, never mind a ticker spot. Call it "ESPN best team ever," or "ESPN y'all just suck."

Re: ESPN Scroll

Do we need any more reasons for the rest of the country to hate us?

I just started another thread on this--sorry. It's on the scroll on the bottom on NFL Live today.

No apologies required. Thanks.

ESPNews Ticker

Anyone else notice that ESPNews added a separate tab titled "Patriots" on its bottom scroll? It started with "Pursuit of Perfection", and gave stats about past Pit-NE matchups. I've never seen an individual player or team listed like this, not Bonds when pursuing Aaron, not the 05 Colts, no one. Not that important, but just kind of bizarre that ESPN devotes an entirely different section to the Pats instead of putting them under the NFL tab...

Re: ESPNews Ticker

As much as they as they act like they don't, ESPN LOVES the Pats. Honestly, they may just talk about negative crap and twist stories around but they are entirely obsessed with all things Patriots. Every week on Monday on the afternoon sports shows the first topic of discussion is always the Pats, and if NFL is not the first topic then the Pats are the first topic when they get to Football. All day on their sports shows there are things about the Patriots.

"R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Take care, TCB

Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me,
sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me,
sock it to me, sock it to me).."

Remember the good ol' days.. when the Pats weren't even on the radar?

And don't forget . . . even if the Pats don't win the Super Bowl, guess what's going to be the big story between February and April?

"Will the Pats resign Randy Moss? Will the Pats resign Asante Samuel? What are the Pats going to do with their #N pick?" etc. etc. etc.

Right now, it really is the Patriots, and everyone else. :rocker:

We won't be done until televangelists preach that people will go to hell for watching our games. The Pats feed off of being hated this year.

....ESPN BOTTOM LINE....New England Patriots......BREAKING NEWS....11:52 am....FLASH BULLETIN.......Tom Brady went to the bathroom at 11:30 this morning at the teams facility in Foxborough, MA.............Team sources also speculated that fullback Heath Evans may be going the bathroom at approx. 12:15 PM (EDT).......More to follow on ESPN BOTTOM LINE.......................

It's all so absurd. It felt like years the team was underappreciated, now everything is over the top. Why can't it ever just be commensurate, appropriate coverage.

There's so much football still left in this season. I read some of the stuff on this board and in the press and it just amazes me. So many knowledgeable football people who seem to have no perspective whatsoever about history or how littered the road to the super bowl is with some year's "best" team.

Heck, we're one loss to the Steelers away from a legitimate discussion whether we're even the "best" team in the league this year, let alone some kind of mega team for the ages worthy of its own line on ESPN. (Before anyone gets their undies in a bunch, I'm just saying it's arguable. The Cowboys would have the same record, and their only loss would have been to a better team than our only loss.)

Several weeks from now, there will be plenty of time for comparison. But I've seen the Patriots take down too many of yesteryear's flavors of the week -- the Rams, the Colts, the Steelers -- to buy into any of this garbage.

It's week 14 for pete's sake. This is absurd.
