I think Adams would be great to backup Wilfork at the NT position

Sam was released today and I think would be a great fit on this team,He is reported as in great game shape and ready to fill a void or maybe help in a area where maybe can give Wilfork a break or two in the upcoming games even though he is primarily a DT or DE.

After all with a name like Sam Adams, does'nt he belong in Boston? ;)

However I think Cleveland is looking for a guy like him maybe more than we are.

Well, you know how well a Broncos D-line cast off worked for the Colts.

He's not the type of guy that could play a 0-technique in our two gap system effectively. On a four man, one gap line, sure, but he's just not that type of player. Plus, I think he's seen better days.

Forget his name. Adams is a Patriot legacy. Sam Adams, Sr. played for the Pats from 72-80.

That said, I don't know if the Pats would pick him up. I am betting the Jets might would go after him. If he has to go through waivers, the Jets will get him.

IIRC, after the trading deadline, all players--regardless of FA status--are subject to waivers, at least for the rest of that season.

Didn't we go through this in the offseason?

He's not coming here.

I agree, he's probably not headed here, but a little bit I'd like to see the occasional 4-3 like this:

Warren, Wilfork, Adams, Seymour.

With that line in front of our linebackers, you could replace the time clock with a calendar.

Are you guys telling me it wouldn't be awesome to have Sam Adams and Tedy Bruschi on the same field? I know, I know... Freddie Roach didn't last, on a similar theory... but we kept Lawyer and Law together for how many years?

Definitely not a two-gapper, but could be decent in a 4-3 with Wilfork, Seymour & Warren...

God knows we need a big run stopper...

If Willis McGahee shredded us, what the he l l is Willie Parker gonna do?

Winter Lager or Pale Ale?

It makes a difference...

Mike Wright is our NT depth.

Hmmm.... can he beat out Mike Wright and Lekevin Smith? Dunno. Depends on how much he has left in the tank. But it wouldn't take THAT much to beat em out. If Adams has to clear waivers I doubt the Pats could get him even if they wanted to anyways.

If he clears waivers, why not? He might not have a lot left in the tank, but with the Pats he would only play situationally. The guy was a beast, and our D has had some issues stopping the run.

The Broncos have had nightmares stopping the run. Justin Fargas just ran for almost 150 yards on Denver. The Broncos need all the help they can get in stopping the run, yet they let Adams go.

Me thinks Adams isn't helping anybody's run D.

Regards,
Chris

even if he could beat them out on the fieldas a NT...do you really think anyone other than twinky the kid could get him on the field for special teams?

Adams is not an option.

I saw him waddle off the field a couple of weeks ago, if he is not at least 450 pounds I would be shocked.
