This would be the totally wrong approach to getting Kornheiser out of the booth.
He is NOT there for the benefit of the real football fan. He is NOT there to contribute to the enjoyment of the game by someone who knows what they are watching.
He is there to attract viewers that would not otherwise watch football.
ANY attention given to him only increases his value to ESPN. If real football fans hate him, they aren't going to stop watching. They are a locked up audience. The more controversial he is, the more fringe audience he attracts.
Its just like Cossell. People watched because he was a whack job. People who wouldnt watch football otherwise watched because they thought the announcing crew provided entertainment.
Real football fans have never made a decision to watch or not watch football because of commentators. If you put in announcers who real football fans like, you lose the non-fan viewership.
