Holy c&*(). 7 pages of new threads just today.

mnf has sukd for quite some time now. at this point, i dont really notice the drivel. probably because i dont watch it unless its pats, and im too into the game to care.

here's what I wrote:
-------------------------------------
Please Please Please,

For the love of God, PLEASE fire Tony Kornheiser. I can't listen to any more of his inane drivel and brown-nosing of celebrities.
It was so bad monday night (Pats V Ravens) that from time to time I had to mute the sound and just watch the game. It was even more onerous when some idiot decided that Don Shula ought to come up to the booth.
MNF has devolved into a 3 hour infomercial with occasional breaks for football. And please fire whoever hired Kornheiser.
---------------------------------------

MNF has sucked since Cossell **** the bed.
Lot's of people hated him ... but he brought drama to the telecast.

Thing is, Howard called it as he saw it, and he was right almost every time. He didn't brrok fools very well, and that got him a lot of grief, but he had an incredible insight into both the game and the players, and he was a standard to judge others by.

Respects,

Done.............

Sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.. I agree Tony isn't that good but:

1. Last couple of groups have been horrible

2. NFLN group with Collinsworth and Gumble are horrible

wrote in, hopefully many more will do the same!! We the NFL fans deserve our game back!

This would be the totally wrong approach to getting Kornheiser out of the booth.
He is NOT there for the benefit of the real football fan. He is NOT there to contribute to the enjoyment of the game by someone who knows what they are watching.
He is there to attract viewers that would not otherwise watch football.

ANY attention given to him only increases his value to ESPN. If real football fans hate him, they aren't going to stop watching. They are a locked up audience. The more controversial he is, the more fringe audience he attracts.

Its just like Cossell. People watched because he was a whack job. People who wouldnt watch football otherwise watched because they thought the announcing crew provided entertainment.
Real football fans have never made a decision to watch or not watch football because of commentators. If you put in announcers who real football fans like, you lose the non-fan viewership.

My addition:

Tony Kornheiser is not the answer for Monday Night Football. He is ok for PTI, but is way over the top when trying to watch a good football game. I have started musting the telecast because I do no like listing to him overblown everything. I know I am also not the only one who does this now. Pretty soon I will just stop watching instead of muting it.
